Default Parking - Blue Boxes

I understand that the blue parking boxes only apply during the summer. Does anyone know when the local council considers summer to have ended?

Deanscroft i don't think the council considered the start of summer this year let alone the end .
Officially the Blue zone (pay at meter) comes into force on May 1st and ends on October 31st but the meters did not appear at all this year .
Even less money in the council coffers .

I can't believe that Sparky - did they just not get out of bed all summer or did their heads get stuck in the sand trying to organise the sunbeds etc.

I understood that the Town Hall were in such a poor way financially they couldn't afford to employ the necessary bodies to service the Blue Zones this year.
We were discussing the topic with a friend in March. Don't know if it's fact or not but it was delightful to have the streets back to normal after all these years.

Do the blue zones still run from the 1st of May, I am thinking of staying in the middle of the old town, I assume as long as you dont park in a blue zone or on lines you can park pretty much anywhere?

SWS, we still have the "Blue Zones" but it is anyone's guess as to whether the meters will go up for May next year. Parking on the "Zig Zags" is a big no no and you risk being towed to the pound (the police are pretty hot on this especially on Wednesdays) and of course not in front of garage doors, other than that it is a case of park where you like and that seems to include crossings , the police don't seem bothered about that, in fact i have seen them parked across them.

Thanks Sparky, thats useful, not sure how close we can get to where we will stay so I plan to park the car as close as I can, in a side street or even on the main road through the town.
Cheers
