Default Help with Sky

Hi,
I have just purchased a property in Puerto Pollensa. Can anyone put me in touch with an english speak tv engineer to enable me to install a sky decoder.
Thanks,
Simon.

Confort or Reus will be able to do that for you.

I would certainly second the recommendation of Confort.

I'm on my third dish in four years (the winter winds have the effect of destroying or seriously damaging lots of dishes I'm afraid) but Confort have always been fantastic at installing a new dish within hours of visiting the store including at 7pm on Christmas Eve a few years ago!

Their engineers are excellent and will, if possible, take steps to minimise the effects of issues like the winter winds when they install the dish.

Do you have to have a Sky decoder? Does a Freesat decoder work in Puerto Pollensa and if so can you buy them locally? We too have just bought an apartment and other than knowing that there is a communal satellite dish, have no idea how to get connected and what the options are. As we won't be there all the time it is not ideal to have to pay a monthly fee to Sky. Any suggestions gratefully received. I knwo where Reus is but whereabouts is Confort?
Best regards Tony

It is unlikely that you would be able to use either sky or freesat from the community system as usually they come through a decoder to apartments. If you have a sattelite dish of your own you can then connect either freesat or sky box. We recently bought a Bush freesat box in the UK for use here. If you buy one here you will get spanish channels.

Hi Simon and Tony - you will firstly need to find out what the dish situation is for you block (if you are not a sole property) because you will have to establish who owns the dishes. If they are communal they may be to be adapted - the max feed you can have from a dish is 4 I believe, but if you have sky+ it uses 2 feeds from the dish.

Get Comfort round to have a look - do not use ads in the Daily Bulletin - I have been sha*tetd by them before

Hi Tony,

If you have a dish and cable in your apartment the cheapeat way
is to pack your box + card and plug it in at your apartment, don't
forget to take it back to UK after your stay.
Works for me.

Please see the link below, we used Ocean TV who are based in Palma for our installation and were very pleased with the job. Sean (who is English) will help with any questions that you may have and will offer advise over the phone.

Walking from Reus towards Juan XXIII you will come to a junction with Milar on one corner and Hyper-centro on the other, turn right and you will find Confort to your right on the roundabout.

Thumbs up Sky TV

I agree with Whaleywanderer. Ocean in Palma are outstanding.
They really are experts and give expert advice.
They work regularly in the north of the island, and give prompt service.

I had bad experiences with a shop in the Port, and Sean at Ocean sorted out the problems for me (both financial and technical).

Ocean are the experts. They are not some fly-by-night set-up. They have a proper shop and talented technicians.
I like to support local businesses in the Port, but to find a company that specialises in TV does make a difference.

Cheers!

San Miguel

Hi Tony

Hope you get your installation sorted out ok. We are in the port at the moment and are having Ocean up today to do some work for us with a Sky+ box that we have brought out to replace our old Sky box. If you need any help or advice please pm me, I'm by no way an expert but found a lot out when I was asking the same questions a couple of years ago.

Please let us know who you eventually used and how you got on.
