Default Changing pool filter sand

I have been advised that we need to change the sand in the pool filter. Has anyone had any experience of this, and if so, is it easy to do?

Thanks Jiggggy,
Job now done. It was easy to do but it did require 200kg of sand - 8 x 25kg bags.

Pool now sparkles
