Hi GPM

I would agree with Bonyslad. We too have an apartment just off the Square - other side as well. We have never been bothered by noise and as Bonyslad indicated it can actually be surprisingly quite.

I too love the closeness to cafes and restaurants. One of the things I really love is on a Wednesday being so close to the Market.

I hope this is helpful.

Sharon

As Bonyslad knows, our apartment is just up the road from him. One thing I love is walking through the square in the middle of the afternoon, smack in the middle of summer, and there isn't a soul around!

thanks everybody, its great to get feedback from people living near the square,
it,s just that this apartment we are looking at is more or less above bony,s and i heard he can kick off in the early hours. anyway i know its a big decision, my worry is i buy it, the noise is terrible and we cant get rid of it.
Thanks again, gpm

Default Noise in the square

Hola

From my experience over the past few years, people like to sit out in the square until quite late, their children playing football, screaming after the sweets that Jose throws for them etc. When you are a part of the activities it does not seem loud, but if you are early to bed I would imagine it could be a problem.

I do think that there are byelaws to control noise etc and how much of the pavement that cafes can command, however, whether this is enforced is another thing.

When we were out last October, Bonys closed a week early suposedly because a resident above the bar complained about the noise!!

My recommendation would be to rent for a week and see. The glut of apartments for sale and the possible down turn in the prices of apartments that is predicted means that you wont miss the oportunity to buy if the square is for you.
