Default annual bills

Just searching for a little local knowledge.. my husband retires April 2008 and we thought a little apartment in Puerto Pollensa would be nice. Our son is only five so we would be visiting during school holidays , so we do not want to spend an absolute fortune. Before we travel out on Oct 31 st to have a look at a few properties we were wondering what annual taxes , fees , government charges need to be paid on an annual basis . At home we pay rates for street lighting ,refuse collection , septic tank emptying etc around £1000/ annum. I would be very grateful for any input as all these extras need to be taken into consideration. Gosh that was a bit long winded , must have been the few glasses of wine I `ve just had with dinner . thanks
Tanya

The best person to go through all of this with you is your lawyer. If you haven't already got a lawyer I would recommend sorting this out before you view properties - they are a wealth of knowledge on the property market. We used Tirso Tarrago just above the pharmacy on C/Joan. He has been excellent.

If you want his contact details send me an email to the inbox.

Our lawyer was very good. She organised all our bills on direct debit from the bank. Also, the statements go to her, so if there's a problem (eg if for some reason the money didn't go out the bank) she can let us know rather than a letter laying in our mailbox for 6 weeks until we're there again.

See www.puertopollensa.com/property_services.html#solicitors for other solicitors in the Port. Also look at the various books available for more info on the charges & taxes you will be liable for www.puertopollensa.com/Books3.html#misc

Thank you very much for the info. The Oct trip is purely for information gathering and seeing what is available within our budget , we do not intend to purchase until new year.
Once again thanks.
