Has anyone any experience of buying furniture, esp, secondhand, preferably old mallorcan style.
I need some and not sure where to look,is there a fleamarket or similar around PP/P/Alcudia?

Hi jonquet,

You could try the secondhand place in Roger de Flor near Bar Romero. It has garage doors and the name Maria's painted on the wall. There is a secondhand place between Alcudia and Puerto Alcudia near the garden centre off the horse roundabout, Not sure of the exact location but neighbours have bought some nice pieces there.
Good hunting.

Also, if you want to buy new Mallorcan style furniture, check out Expo at Inca or Manacor. Both stores have 3 floors of stock and its wonderful!

hi jonquet,
there's a really interesting place to the right as you reach the roundabout at Pollensa from the port. it has a lot of stuff purporting to be antique and I,m sure some of it is but there's also some new but distressed furniture.
We've stayed in quite a few villas in our years of holidaying in the area and in nearly every one they have had an oxen yoke(?) hung on the wall, presumably as a sign of their agricultural heritage?
Anyway when you get into this shop you'll probably think there's a factory round the corner knocking them up like nobody's business.Nice stuff in there if quite expensive.
Manacor is a great place for furniture. The eds are for nothing...they are all made there.

Happy shopping!

I did wonder what an 'ed' was. You can always 'edit' your own post if you like.

We had a look in the shop at the roundabout. Its very much an 'artisan' type of place, but as you say, quite expensive. At the back there appeared to be a workshop, so I wonder whether they make a lot of it on site.

It's a furniture shop in Alcudia.

Any recommendations for buying modern type furniture

Table and chairs and lounge units and coffee table

We don't want to spend too much but want to have an alternative to Ikea

I would recommend Expo Mobles at Inca or Manacor or Intermobel at Manacor. Whilst both shops might look at bit expensive they do have less expensive ranges as well. Also look out for their sales.

Its not exactly in PP but there is a very large car boot sale/flea market at Consell ( about 25 mins drive ) every Sunday . Its only 1 euro to park and well worth a look . best to go in the morning.

There is a Plomver on the way up to Pollensa near Eroski. We got ours there. They have a good selection upstairs and the prices are reasonable.

Leroy Merlin on the road down to Palma also stock a good selection during the hotter months. We called in in early January and they didn't have anything - very different from July!

Also, again during the hotter months, Ikea in Palma have a reasonable selection.

There is a ferreteria just along from the Mercadona supermarket on the road between Alcudia town and Puerto Alcudia.

As well as ferrets :\ :lol they also have a good selection of garden furniture.
