Spanish taxes!

I must admit to have been frequently disappointed by the number of costs and taxes that seem to continually come at me since buying my property last year.

The lasted is a tax for annual deemed rental income, this is the tax declaration payable for the number of days the property is available to you during a calendar year. I mean.......what?

600euros tax for deemed rental income, when I don't have a licence and am not renting. Is everyone aware of that one?

There is an old thread explaining this here :- http://www.forum.puertopollensa.com/...-spain-uk.html ;).

Good luck in finding the cadastral reference yourself! It took me hours and I cannot remember which Internet site I finally found it on :):)

Hi Rockape
If you think these taxes are bad wait until you come to sell !!You ll be lucky to get your 3% capital gains tax retention back within 18 months, if at all ! This is because no refund will be given until final payment of non resident tax has been made and this could be up to a year after selling depending on when it’s paid by the new buyer.

I was lucky to sell this year and you can’t believe how relieved I am to be out of the Spanish property market. It seems non residents are just a cash cow used as political pawns . I hope things get better for you in the future .

Basques offer tax cuts to tempt Brexit Britons

From The Times on Tuesday:
"
It has the highest number of Michelin-starred restaurants in the world, great beaches for surfing and now Spain’s Basque Country is adding something else in the hope of luring Britons to move abroad after Brexit: tax breaks.

The wealthy northwestern region will guarantee a 15 per cent reduction in income tax for the first five years for British citizens who move there after the UK has left the European Union. Relocation costs are also tax deductible on up to 20 per cent of income for the same period."
