It's currently 19% of 1.1% of the cataster value of the property.

So say this was 225.000, the tax payable would be around 470.

This is paid even if you never rent out the property.

Do consult your solicitor. When we purchased he organised all the bank payments needed for community charges, electricity etc. and also does our tax return every year - as mentioned the Wealth Tax only applies to properties above a certain value but the 'income tax' based on an assumed rental income even if you don't let your property is payable every year. Some people on this forum do the return themselves. We also had a good read of the current version of David Searl's book You and the Law in Spain - see PuertoPollensa.com - Books on Living in Spain but it looks as if the publishers are no longer trading.

That is fantastic, thank you. We will be resident, so not sure if that changes anything?
always good to know what we need to earn each month!

Just realised that no one has mentioned water costs? Are no other utility costs? seems very reasonable to me?

Our water costs are included in our community charges, so I guess depends upon where you rent.

If you rent a property in a building shared with other people, and the property (yours) doesn't have an individual water meter, the total bill is split amongst all the owners, normally depending on the size of the property.

This means that you will pay your share wether you use water or not.

Some buildings have individual meters placed after the main meter, so in that case, you only pay for the water consumed.

Somebody from the community agency reads the meters every few months and then invoices every different apartment as per it's consumption.
