Default Recommendation for medical insurance

Hi one and all
My husband and I are currently investigating private health insurance, which we apparently need to have in place before our residencia appointments at the beginning of May. One with an English option on their website would be great and preferably with a 'show your card' payment system, rather than having to pay upfront and claim back.

Have looked at Sanitas (eekily pricey) BKV and Caser Seguros so far. Does anyone have any recommendations and/or experience of good private medical insurance please? Feeling a bit lost with it all!

Have a look at Allianz world care ...website in English and has a FAQ section ...

across the board on insurance it is usual for most out patient treatment to be on a Pay and Claim basis and the rest to be on a TGB -- pre authorised Treatment Guarantee Basis/ GOP Guarantee of Payment subject to terms and conditions of your individual policy.

This is explained under the section --- for example

How do I arrange direct settlement for planned in-patient treatment?

But also bear in mind not all health providers work with all insurers so you cannot simply pitch up at your prerferred health provider often you have to go with the Insurers Preferred Supplier !!! so maybe working backwards would also be advised ... ask the health provider who they work with and research from there as well.

We took out health insurance 8 years ago through Neil Rowley insurance brokers in Palma. It is with a company called Cosalud (used to be called groupama). It costs 150€ per month for the two of us (we are both in our early 60s). The policy document is in English.
