Default Air conditioning Advice please

Hi
We are due to complete on our apartment purchase next week. We need to install air conditioning units in the three bedrooms, living room already has one. We were thinking of getting units that cool and heat. Has anyone any idea of what we should expect to pay for three units installed, would be very grateful for any advice, recommendations etc....

Thanks
Paula

I think it would depend on how many external units you need, could two rooms share one? , lengths of pipe etc. I would speak with someone like Confort in Calle Xalloc, they are very reliable for all electrical work.

We replaced all our AC units last year I think the bedroom sized units were 1,400 and the lounge unit which is large was 2,600. I know you can get cheaper units and that some of people do not put a unit in every room.
Confort fitted ours, you always get great service from them.

Yes I would also recommend Confort both for their expertise, reliability and customer service. Super when we had our air con installed and for the servicing too.

Paul Robinson at Project Management recommended I put in a ducted system with one big air con unit outside - might be worth getting him in for a chat.

I haven't done it yet as I have not got the funds but I think he reckoned about 5k for my 4 bed apt

We just installed a 5KW unit which heats and cools at a cost of €1350. I looked around at the prices and this seemed about right. Leroy Merlin sell the units and arrange installation too for a similar price. 5KW is about the largest domestic unit you can get. Larger units tend to be industrial and there is then a step in the price by another €1000. We calculated we needed about 8KW for our bedroom which is quite large (45m2) and with floor to ceiling windows. The 5 KW unit reduced the internal temperature to about 23C on the hottest nights which is slightly warmer than we prefer, but we decided that an extra €1000 was not worth it for just a handful of nights. We don't use it at all now and wont until next June. It all depends on your budget and preference.

There are lots of websites which allow you to calculate what size is necessary.

Having had experience of several different makes of a/c unit I suggest you insist on Panasonic. Its the only make I havn't had problems with. The worst one I've had was LG.

You must have been unlucky Deanscroft. We have had 4 Mitsubishi units for 11 years and never had a problem.
