Just for useful info, did you get it sorted out, who did you use and how do you rate them?
Would be handy to know for as/when my boiler eventually goes!

Also, is there such a thing as an electrically operated combi type boiler available in Mallorca? Ours seems to run out of hot water within two short showers.

Don't think there is such a thing as an electric Combo!!

Reasons for a shortage of hot water:
1...small boiler
2...calcification build up.

We replaced a boiler a few years ago for a larger one as we kept running out of water.
Our installer, I think it was Paul from a previous post did an excellent job.

A couple of years later someone was telling me you should have them descaled every couple of years. If you don't the zinc "sacrificial" rod gets eaten away and the calcification starts eating your element!! Resulting in reduced quantity of water, higher running costs and eventual breakdown. Good sales patter I thought!!

Anyway I asked if he'd service mine as it had been in three years. He did the job and showed me the old rod and the 8kg of calc he took out of the boiler!!

I was amazed!!

Another year and I think I'll get it done again.

Interesting re the calcium build-up and 8 kilos of it? Sounds a lot to me. Our community does have a water softener in the basement but it was fitted post the apartments being built so could be a problem.

Thanks for the info, may have to get it checked out. Just a case of finding someone who is honest, reliable and knows what they're doing.

A neighbour recommended Sani Moll so my husband went round late afternoon and Carlos (?) came round 8:30 the following morning to have a look. An engineer came round about 10:00 and fitted a 100 litre electric water heater- job done!Brilliant service. Not too sure of cost at the moment as we keep going round to the office to pay and it's closed! Need a shower replacing as well but this appears to be a bit of a minefield.

The problem with an electric combi is that it needs a large electrical input a bit like an instantaneous electric shower. Few properties here have an electrical supply that could do this.
