Hola M

Wilkinson have various types in at the moment for about £10 with replacement cartridges for £6 to £8 for 3.

Fit one in your luggage, they are light and as long as you pack them with your smalls you should be OK

We have been using a Brita jug for years and bring the filters from the UK. Works well.

I believe it reduces them to almost nil, and certainly we have had no ill effects from drinking it. We have a three way tap with a separate control for the drinking water, but the machine does come with a tap supplied.

I was just talking about this the other day and you can have a system installed for about 150/200 euros that treats ALL water in your property thus allowing you to drink tap water and also ensuring that your washing machine, dishwasher etc. last much longer due to the lack of cal build up. It sounds like a brilliant idea and I am not sure why it is not standard now on new properties. I always thought it was much more expensive so had never considered the option in the past but my new partner explained all about it the other day.

We just have ours on the cold water feed with a separate tap for drinking, we also have a smaller filter on the inlet to the hot water tank which cost 10 euro's to try and cut down the calcium.

Thought this was interesting in the DDM Pollença inyectará agua de dos nuevos pozos a la red para mejorar la calidad - Diario de Mallorca.

Pollença inject water from two new wells to the network to improve the qualityThe move will allow the reduction of 50,000 cubic meters of liquid from the desalination

23/11/2013 | 6:50
j. frau The municipality of Pollença inject the water network from two new wells in order to reduce dependence on desalination of the Badia de Alcúdia and improve the quality of the liquid to connected homes spreading to local hydraulics both Pollenca and Port.
Both wells will now supply drinking water to the municipality are located on farms and Can Can Comes Sales and is expected to provide a flow of 100,000 cubic meters. Consistory sources explained yesterday that the two wells are trained to provide up to 300,000 cubic meters a year, but the municipal service, Emser, has chosen to incorporate only the net amount to said water quality is better.
The decision to inject network water from these wells was taken yesterday at the board of Emser. In this sense, the mayor of Pollença, Tomeu Encrypt (PP), said after the meeting that the initiative will allow the municipality to have better quality water and at the same time reducing the flow from the desalination of Alcúdia.
intended municipal service is to reduce by 50,000 cubic meters annual flow into the network from the desalination plant. Councillor delegate Emser, Maria Buades, explained that although the company plans to feed into the grid 100,000 cubic meters of two new municipal wells, only the volume from the desalination plant will be reduced by 50,000 cubic meters because of this form "will prevent the remaining wells salinicen excess exploitation." "For us, the main thing is the quality of service and not corporate profits," said the councilor.

Purchase water desalination
Although the municipality of Pollença wants to reduce dependence that the municipality has regarding the desalination of Alcudia, the reality is that this equipment is still very necessary to ensure the supply of liquid to residents Township Nord.
In this sense, the lack of rainfall and the increase of the floating population have forced the utility to increase the flow of water is purchased annually to the desalination plant, from 150,000 cubic meters acquired in 2012 200,000 cubic meters that had to be purchased this year.
Traditionally, Emser stopped buying desalinated water between September and October, but the rain deficit has forced this year to continue billing desalination liquid until the second week of November.
