New DIY centre in Marratxi opens tomorrow

Majorca.— Multinational Bauhaus is opening its first store in the Balearic islands tomorrow, a move set to create almost 250 new jobs.
The new DIY hardware shopping centre is located in Marratxi and is set to become the island’s biggest supplier of construction, do-it-yourself, decoration and gardening material.
With the centre occupying an area around 32.000 square metres, 14.000 of them just for the shopping centre itself, 150 direct and stable job positions have been created, and another 100 to cover all the extra services for clients like home deliveries.

The Marratxi centre will have two unique features that differentiate it from other stores from the group: a Drive In and a City Garden.
The first is a 2.750 square metres area dedicated to construction materials that allows cars to pass through.
Customers can go in while driving, stop the car at any time for as many times necessary, choose their products, load them and then pay at the check out point.

The City Garden is a space exclusively for material and products related to gardening.
30 million investment includes a car park
Those interested in aquiring any of those materials, will now have a 3.200 square metres area, where they will find machinery stands, tools for gardening work, outdoor furniture, swimming pools and also plants.

The company’s investment in the new store is estimated to be around 30 million euros, which will also include apart from the store area, a car park with capacity for 400 vehicles.

This is good news for everyone! Good for those finding jobs, good for anyone needing to buy especially being able to park close to where you are buying and very good news for the message this gives.

The second DIY to open in a year! This one supplying to the construction industry too! The market must be looking positive. It is good to have the choice as well.

We visited the new diy near Ikea back in June and we were impressed with their selection and their prices. Another store will perhaps make those prices more competitive in terms of not only price as well as selection. Not a bad thing in my opinion although husband might just have something else to say here as I do like to have a good look and compare!
