Default Bankia or Barclays

Hi All,

We need your help and experience as we are about to enter in to buying our apartment at long last!

Some time ago many of you were not happy with Bankia Bank when they took over Caxia and some of your trusted relationships with local staff and internet banking seemed to have lots of problems. Have things improved, that is relationships face to face/telephone and is their internet banking now easy to access?

Or, would you recommend Barclays as earlier threads seemed to indicate their services and internet banking were good?

Hope you can help and much appreciated,
Lucky.

Since Bancaja became Bankia their service levels have slipped and their charges have gone up considerably.

I was one of bancaja's greatest fans. But since the Bankia take over its been a totally different experience. Very sad.

Hi All,

Thanks to everyone so far. Look like Barclays is still ahead and the way to go.

Are Barclays good on line from the UK?

Lucky.

I really do think it is a case of you get what you pay. Bancia although now considerably more expensive than when they were Bancaja are still the cheapest. If you just need to maintain an account to pay your standing bills by direct debit then Bancia are fine. If you expect service then I suggest you look elsewhere.

Thank you Deanscroft this is very useful information.

Can anyone confirm that their recent experience of Internet Banking is easy to access and understand with either Bankia or Barclays?

Many thanks,
Lucky

I use the Bancia internet bank on a regular basis and find it very easy to use in both Spanish and English.

Thanks again Deanscroft, now down to personal choice following completion. We hope to have more time soon in PP and get along to some of the forum meets in the square.
