Unhappy Hot water heater problems

Hi everyone

I would like any advice you can give me. My hot water heater filter is constantly getting blocked up with sand. It ok when I'm over there as my husband cleans it out, but we have to call out a plumber almost once a week when other people are staying . Does anyone know of a better hot water system we could use ?. we used to have a combination boiler for gas and water but also had numerous problems with that.

Hi Carol
What kind of filter do you have? Is is mesh, string etc?
Also what is your water source, i.e mains or community well etc....

Hi Carol

Hmm, it would be most unusual to get that quantity of grit/sand if it was coming direct from the mains and the filter has been cleaned/replaced. If a submersible pump is being used anywhere (more common than you would think) it could be that it's been replaced or serviced and it is now too low in the well/deposit and sucking up the dirt from the bottom. Without looking its the only thing that I can think of. If you are living in a block of flats then I'd have a chat with the administrator and see if there has been any change made.
Hope this helps

Paul
