Smile Employment needed from november 2013

I'm looking for some employment starting from around November 2013 as i am relocating to Puerto pollensa, Spain with my boyfriend to live closer to his family. I am English but am currently in the middle of taking Spanish lessons
I am qualified hair stylist but have previously done waitressing/hotel work so anything will do.

If you know of anything or have any advice that'd be great

I am afraid you will find it very difficult to find work especially in November because an awful lot of places are closed down for the winter. With the economic climate as it is you will struggle even in the summer months, sorry but it's really tough here at the moment .
lollipop and RobnAnna like this.

November is definitely a shut down month, most of the hairdressers are Spanish owned and they are currently cutting staff (and hair) If you speak Spanish it's a big advantage for any work. Having said that quality of life here is great so don't be put off

I agree with Sparky and Riojas' comments. However in my opinion a good english speaking hairdresser in this area would not go a miss. There is a fairly substantial ex-pat community in PP (and surrounding areas) as well as other communities whose second language is english (like the Russians and Scandinavians). Just make sure you advertise yourself and the fact that you speak english.

As you know you don't even have to take the plunge of setting up shop you can be mobile or even rent a chair (not sure if they do that here but it might be worth asking). Some of the spa hotels might even be interested in using your services - it's worth a try!

FYI - I live in the Port but I go to an english hairdressers in Magaluf She's worth it!

I for one would use an English mobile if I could find one.

what brilliant advise from Mimsy I hope you read it and took note Rosie. If you got yourself set up as a mobile and advertised officially on this site you would have a ready made client base the rest would be up to you go for it and good Luck well done Mimsy great advise.

I used to have an English mobile hairdresser but unfortunately he has recently returned to the UK, I have found another but not sure how many clients she already has.

3 years ago a young couple rented my apartment in Puerto Pollenca. They arrived in November and took a six month lease. She was a fully qualified ladies hairdresser and intended to establish herself offering a mobile service. He hoped to get work as an odd-job-man / Gardener etc. They gave out close to 1000 business cards. The number of enquiries they received? - Zero. In January they packed their bags and went back to the UK.

I´ve just seen your post. Did you manage to find anything or are you still looking for work? I have an interior position in a private villa (cleaning, ironing, service etc.) The position is full time and year round. Send me a message if interested.
