Free public WiFi.
The Pollensa council have reached an agreement with IB Red to expand the coverage area of free public wireless internet, this from the DDM :-
The Network Inventory Company expanded wireless coverage area and sports hall
Network Inventory Company, specializing in new technologies, provide wireless coverage areas of the sports hall and the municipal flag of Pollença, and expand to four years the two areas that already have access to public internet in the township 'pollencí ', both as in Port Pollença.

Interesting
Is there a website anywhere that shows the coverage so far ?
I did find free wifi in pollensa town square last year but maybe there are other places.
(Although as I always say, be careful what you do with free wifi as its easy for naughty people to set up honeypots and harvest private details)

Yes have used the wifi in the square in PP, it also extends to at least a steet or two away as I have us it in an apartment near the square , but as Mark said, be careful it is unsecure and as such of suitable for anything other than general surfing!

Can anyone advise me if the free wifi is publicly available in the areas around the beach bars (La Roca, Embats & Tamerells)?

Anywhere with a password is more secure, so bars and restaurants that have wifi but you need them to tell you, most now have this, but still check before you do anything secure that you have the padlock symbol in the corner as this can sometimes not be. The golden rule is not to do anything over there that you wouldn't do over here on someone elses wifi!

Thank you for checking that out.
Just got a reply from the tourist office to my e-mail and the free WiFi is only available around the square now, not along the beach.
Enjoy the sunshine on the beach.
