Mobile wifi ...... Mifi

Three now do something thats called mifi which is a small modem which can fit into your pocket and creates a wifi zone around you ...... excellent for whan you have several of you all with wifi enabled phones/ ipod touches/ netbooks etc and its only £49

BUT it is locked onto the three network and I'm not even sure it has a "sim" I think it may just have the equivilent of a Sim built in to it

What I am trying to find out is can it be unlocked and can another sim card be added to it ....... if so imagine how useful when in PP

Anyone know any more about this than me or even know if any of the spanish providers do something similar

Forgot to say .... three just tell me its locked to the three network and will only work on that network but its not made by them its made by huwea ) or similar ) so I'm thinking they woudn't just make something that only works with one network .... would they?

Hello CD,

Looks good :)

The full model number to search for looks to be mifi 2352 or Huawei E5830

mifi 2352 - Google Search

Huawei E5830 - Google Search

A few links:

Go MiFi - and ditch your iPhone? ? The Register

link that shows pictures of mifi 2352, it does have a sim :)

The Huawei versions are E5830 £5832 E5836 E5837

Not sure that I would buy one until I know someone else has one working with a vodafone spain sim :)

Hi,
We got MiFi when we were out in February, got it from Orange in Alcudia. We started using it straight away, simple to use and no problems. We have friends staying in our apartment at the moment, but they are unable to get the MiFi on their laptop. I'm at a loss to understand why. Anybody have suggestions?
On a separate note, does anybody have a phone number for the Orange shop in Alcudia? There was a very helpful lady who served us and I would like to talk to her. Can't find a number anywhere.
Many thanks.

Thanks Rosie.
Well we finally figured out the problem, not helped by Orange in Alcudia who ironically never answer their phone. It's not technical, simply an administrative error on the part of Orange. Apparently there was a discrepancy in the paperwork, and when this was discovered by the head office they just shut the line down. We have to go through the whole procedure again, applying in person. The bureaucracy drives me mad. I have spent two days and a fortune on phone bills trying to get to the bottom of this. Anyway, life goes on....
