Default Movistar Internet TV

We have just learned that Movistar has brought Fibre optic to our street and I am contemplating upgrading.

By looking at their website they appear to sell a box which will give all the BBC channels. It looks suspiciously like a Humax box. There was a similar claim a couple of years ago and there was some discussion on this forum. We purchased a Humax box and there were no BBC channels.

Normal you cannot get BBC on a Spanish IP address, unless you go through a VPN, which we do on our iPad.

We are now a couple of years on from the original discussion and Movistar claims, so I wonder whether the new box is something like a Humax box with a VPN incorporated.

Has anyone tried this or got an opinion?

The phone and internet including Line rental plus 300 free mins to uk numbers plus free calls to Spanish numbers plus a number people can call from the uk direct to you and its a local call for them and free for you. The whole package costs 68 euro a month including tax and company are awesome English speaking English Bill via email and you never have to speak to Telephonica again lol. we have been with them for a number of years

Default Filmon

Hi,

Last week, Movistar installed a Fibre Optic internet cable in my apartment.

There is quite a big difference in upoad and download speeds compared to the normal ADSL system.

Best of all, I can now watch all the UK TV channels on my phone and tablet totally free of charge, and hope to soon on a new smart TV.

Worth trying FILMON TV FREE LIVE TV MOVIES AND SOCIAL TELEVISION

Cheers,

Molt

Presumably you are getting the UK channels through Filmon rather than a satellite box?

Correct.

No need for a dish, box or anything else.

Also not affected by bad weather or the powers that be "adjusting" the satellites trajectory.

One more question - do you access Filmon via an app on your TV, or through a browser? (We have a Samsung TV and not sure whether it has an app))

At the moment I am only use my phone and tablet.

To be able to watch on a TV I will need to buy a "smart" TV ( most of them are nowadays ).

Don't know about the App but can't be difficult. I am intending to go to the shops tomorrow so will find out.

I do understand though that you can buy a dongle ( Amazon, Apple ) that when plugged into the TV will pick up anything that you can watch on your tablet.

You can get Chromecast which is a dongle and allows casting from a tablet to a TV, but not everything can be cast. iplayer can't even though it should. Nor can sky go.( we access these through a VPN)

It is a bit of trial and error. For example our VPN works on our iPad but not our laptop . Iplayer will work from iPad to TV via an HDMI cable, but sky go won't

We have a smart TV bought in Palma, but it has mostly Spanish apps, hence my question. We have Samsung TVs in UK and Mallorca but pre installed apps are quite different and I haven't found a way of downloading others.

Other people's experience is valuable

Using one of these seems to be the way to go: Google Chromecast
