Badly designed hotels/apt buildings etc.

Sorry if I offend anyone but I would like the Pollensa Park pulled down and a low rise Hotel put there possibly useing some of the empty land to make up for the loss of bedrooms from the high rise of the PP

To me the Pollensa Park is the only blot on the landscape in PP

The Pollensa Park is not the most attractive of places I agree but I do think that perhaps we 'owe' the Pollensa Park. I think because it is such a ghastly (in my opinion) building rules were put in place which included no high rise.

Pollensa Park Hotel

I agree with both Copper and Eleanor's comments regarding this Hotel. The Hotel is in my opinion has always been a "Blot" on the landscape. It did stop other high rise buildings being built, which in a way was helpful, but as we all know that High rise does not blend in with the rest of PP, so maybe this would be a good time ,as Copper has said to rebuild it. The same could be said for the "Don Pedro" in CSV???

Yes Mark has posted some pics of the Don Pedro here http://www.forum.puertopollensa.com/...el-resort.html.

pollensa park

pollensa park was my first hoilday in pollensa and i have been returning for over 40 years in them days paco was awaitet atthe Golden lion and i went to his sons confirmation when he was around 10 years old
.On the subject of the Pollensa park i believe that each year they apply for a license or pay a fine for the fact it does not meet local building rules . I was told this afew years ago when i commented how it managed to get built . Not sure it is true or not but could explain afew things

Hi and welcome to the forum Always Return, like you my first PP holiday was in the Polypark and i was also told that they pay a fine every year because they built it 3 levels too high. Of course there are other "illegal" builds in the Port, the Daina swimming pool is supposedly one of them ;).

Is that why they have worked on it for the past two winters?

As was the old terrace at the Bahia ..... Accepted because the owner was somehow connected to
Franco apparently

Couldn't have put it any better myself. The place is both hideous and illegal but I suppose it's given many a cheap passport into PP to discover the area, so it has served a purpose.

As mentioned, if only there was the money to demolish it and start again with something afresh like a low-rise development? However, after walking down to it on both my visits so far this year I've noticed they're giving the outside a good render and re-paint so I dare say there are no plans to demolish it. Just keep paying the illegal height build fine I suppose?!

As far as illegal builds and dodgy deals etc. this is Spain and it's still very much who you know, not what you know.
