Default Pollensa Park

Hi All

Planning a third return visit to PP in Aug with 2 young children (5 yr old and baby). Previously we've stayed at Bellresguard apartment and Daina Hotel, but a bit strapped for cash this year.....so looking at a very good deal to the Pollensa Park. Just having a few reservations about booking as it seems to get very mixed reviews.

Would appreciate anyones views who has experience of this hotel.

Thanks in advance.

Shaun

The Pollensa Park is a good family hotel but will not have the qualities of the Daina,I have stayed at the PP many times over the years as my son was growing up ,he has made many friends there who he still meets each summer in the port. A very good hotel for children close to the beach with a large pool and kids activities, but, there are a few issues,in school holidays its very crowded and very noisy,if you want a sunbed around the pool expect to be up and in the queue about 8.30 am , all beds will be gone by 9am. Expect the inevitable sunbed argument ! The restaurant is buffet style and is OK but can get repetetive,at busy times you will have to queue to enter the restaurant and get seated. Some of the rooms on the lower floors did look a little tired and all rooms were fairly basic ,none of these issues really bothered me ,if the children were happy I was happy. There is an extensive evening entertainment programme, ask for a pool view room if possible ,good sea views.I believe that this year there is an all inclusive option, something I am not really a fan of,it will hit local trade and people will tend to stay in rather they get about and see the beauty of the port. This year I am staying in an apartment very close to the PP,I shall be popping over for a swim and a drink.

I'd echo Cliff's write-up.................seems spot on.

I've wandered round it a few times and the place is clean and tidy but extremely old fashioned and tired looking. My personal opinion is that it's an eyesore but there you go.

I understand they have gone "all-inclusive" this year which on the face of it seems good value but, as Cliff said, will be repetitive and yesterday's left-over food represented as something else tomorrow!! (I've stayed in all-inclusive resorts in the past so know this from experience - they waste nothing !!).

I suppose from a young family's point of view watching their pennies it seems like a good option. Just don't expect too much.

Oh, and please, if you do choose it, do go out for the odd meal and drinks to put money into the decent places in PP because if they go under the place will lose its charm and that would be disastrous.

Don't expect what you had at Bellesregard and the Daina and it should be okay. At least the port will get some money from your stay.

Enjoy your hols.....

Can i just make it clear that the hotel has not gone totally "all inclusive", it is one of the options along with B/B and H/B.
Many of the staff have worked in the hotel for years and all of them are very friendly and helpful. Yes it gets noisy and you do have to queue for dinner but that will be the case in any large hotel during the school holidays.

Thanks all for the responses.

Clean, friendly and good for kids is all we ask, so sounds OK - we realise it's not going to be equivalent to where we've stayed previously. However, given that we're having to travel in Aug in middle of the very expensive school holidays, it represents a good cheap deal that allows us to visit PP again in high season.

We'll definately not be confining ourselves to the hotel - we know what PP has to offer and we intend to make the most of it.

Cheers

Shaun
