Does anyone know if work has started on this hotel yet.

Yes Bevgt it has and read that it has had a refurb for 2012 on the Thomas Cook website :).

Yet another hotel in PP that has always look smart and grand despite "only" having 3 stars ?

According to the various booking sites incl Thomas Cook, Laterooms etc., the Uyal is being upgraded to 4* for 2012 :)

The work commenced on 1st November and they are currently working 7 days a week. The Hotel Uyal will re-open as a 4* Hotel following the total refurbishment of all the rooms. New bathrooms, excellent huge beds, new floors, etc.etc. The general feel of the Hotel will remain traditional though. Please see further details on my webpage.

I went passed yesterday whilst walking the dog and there are loads of people working there and this week several electricians vans. Work seems to be progressing nicely and I have some clients who are going in just after Easter so I certainly hope its 100% ready and as fantastic as expected. Same goes for Apartments Daina.

This hotel was a little tired and in need of a lick of paint to say the least....glad to hear that money is being spent on making something better rather than pulling down and errecting a faceless building with no character...hope they get the configuration of the balconys sorted out as well....some of the ones around the side had a lot to be desired.

Coming back to PP this year and have decided to stay at the Uyal. I have booked a Junior Suite with sea view. Does anyone know what these suites are like? Are they all on the front of the original building?
