Default Changes at the Pollensa Park?

Does anyone know what has happened at the Pollensa Park since it opened a few weeks ago? Our cycling group have been coming to the Pollensa Park in March for about 15 years now. Arriving last week we were greeted with the news that the Director/Manager - Mr Vizcaino - was no longer there. For the first time in 15 years our bookings were wrong and it took me quite a while to get the total value of our bill sorted correctly. The place just isn't the same without our good friend Pedro at the hotel's helm.

To top it all, there were rumours floating around that the Swiss/German cycling company (Max Hurtzler) might be moving in en-masse next year.

Has anyone heard anything? We've only been back home two days and my group are already leaning on me to start arranging our 2012 camp and I'm wondering if it's time to look elsewhere.

The hotel has been losing money and on the verge of bankrupsy so have had a big change of staff at management level. The German bookings for this year are up between 25 and 50% so as cycling is an important contributer to the tourist economy and Max Heurzler seems to have a stranglehold on that, who knows??

Thanks Ray. If one of the big cycling companies moves in then the costs will rocket.

Time for a chat with the Daina and the Uyal I think.

That is a very strong possibility Rich as they were looking at taking over part of the Iberostar setup in Alcudia last month.
The place to contact about anthing to do with cycling Is Pro Cycling in the Port those lads in there are very helpfull.

The last i heard, the Galeon (which is part of the Pollensa Park Group) had been closed down and the British Cycle Team were staying in Alcudia this year.

Now that makes sense actually. Couldn't understand why they were not open in November. What a shame. Good restaurant there too. Hope it reopens soon.

The only other item of interest is that amongst all the lycra at the Pollensa Park we saw a coach load of the Spanish equivalent of Saga depositing senior citizens a couple of days ago.

Re Galeon.
There were potential buyers but aparently the deal fell through, that was a couple of months ago though so i don't know what is happening now. The place had been completely emptied out the last i heard.

When we first started going to the Poll Park all those years ago, the hotel had large tranches of winter guests who were from Thompsons 'Young at Heart'. This made Saga clientele look positively youthful.

SMG, we've been walking the dog passed the Pollentia a couple of times a day, both in front and along the path at the back and it doesn't look anything like opening yet awhiles, so no good for the lycra lovers!
