Default Flora Apartments

Hi. We have just booked the Flora aparthotel for mid July for 10 days, I read some reviews on here and on holiday truths and all seems good. We have three young ( age 5, 4 and what will be 7 months ). Can anyone confirm that the beach is good for kids please? And if anyone has been there, how far from the beach the apartments are?

Can't wait .... we had booked to go to Cyprus ( my wife's parents live there ) ...but the airline we were flying with from Stansted dropped the route...so we cancelled )
Many thanks ...great forum, very helpful.
Martin

Never stayed at the Flora, but can confirm to you that the beaches all along that area are gently shelving, sandy and great for kids. The sea front is pedestrianised, so there's no danger from cars. If you walk from the entrance to flora to the beach and it takes you two minutes... you've really strolled!

Enjoy!

Tequila

I am guessing you are a bit busy at the moment ...... if you will have a 7month old by July

But when you get a bit of time you will just need to browse this forum to find all you need to know about what I am sure will be a great holiday

But for starters

You are right opposit what must be one of the best restaurants for families in PP ..... it is called Trio .............. lovelly 3 course evening meals with wine or beer for about 17euros and childrens meals for just a few euros and the kids will be made very welcome.

Also try Little Italy where if you book an outside table and you are lucky, baby will fall asleep, older children will play on the beach right in front of you and you can have a nice relaxing time after your meal sitting having a drink watching the world go by

Of course there are lots more restaurants in PP catering for a wide variety of tastes and pockets , all of which you will find reviewed on these pages .

You have a charity shop just across the road which will be stocked with all the items your kids nead for the beach ..... just pay a few euros for them and then hand them back at the end of your stay ............. there is also a hire shop nearby in case you need any extras for the baby that you don't want to carry on the plane or your older kids want to hire pushbikes

As has already been said the beach is great ...... gently shelving sand and also if you walk up toward sthe Illa D'or it narrows more and has some great areas where the children can trawl with their fishing nets or snorkel and see star fish, squid, crabs, prawns and lots of small and larger fish if they are lucky

Have a great holiday

All the reviews I seem to see suggest that there is a problem with the sunbeds around the pool at the Flora , is this correct ? We too are interested in the Flora but not sure if going to be too busy as my kids love the pool

Thanks everyone, all booked and can't wait. I'm sure I will have a load more questions nearer the time. My Mum and Dad go to the Ila Dor every year so I have asked them to take a look see for us too.

Hi Tequila,

We stayed at the Flora Apartments about 5 years ago and, as everyone is saying, is in an ideal position for the beach, shops and restaurants. As CD mentioned, the Trio is excellent value for money. Every time we go to PP, the Trio is always on our eating out list.
The only problem we noticed was that some of the apartments are located in the corner of the buildings giving a restricted outlook. A couple who were allocated one of these apartments complained to reception and were immediately moved to another apartment with no restricted view.

Enjoy your holiday.

We have stayed in the Flora Apartments in 2009 and 2010. The apartments are in an ideal location for the beach and restaurants. Pepe's restaurant opposite apartments is a good choice. The apartments are good, the only downside is the pool. It has a small pool for little children. The main pool is quite deep and children will not be able to put their feet down at any point. Apart from that they are good, entertainment and staff very good.

Getting sunbeds was a nightmare, other than that it's in a great location

There is nothing wrong with the Flora - if that is what you want

What I mean by this is that I think your views of the Flora will probably depend upon what you want from your holiday. If you want a nice , clean, convenient base within easy walking distance of the beach and you intend using it as a base and actually going out and around a lot of the time rather than just sitting by the pool most days but you want to come back to somewhere where there are lots of other children for yours to play with and entertainment laid on for them it is probably the ideal choice and so you will come home with the view that it is ideal.

If you want peace and quiet, sun beds that you can sit on whenever you want and a pool that is never too full so that your children can actually swim safely whilst you look on, then you would return home with the view that it was a nightmare.

Personally I would always go for the latter ........ even when the children were small we preferred to stay somewhere more private. That way you can relax by your own pool which in the private blocks is only likely to have a couple of other families around and if the children are not great swimmers, you can actually see them when they are in the water as it isn't too crowded. When you want to be more sociable you always have the beach and in the evening if you really have to ( we have all had to do this at one stage I guess ) you can go into one of the complexes , buy a few drinks and let the kiddies join in the mini-disco. That way you get the best of both worlds.

Cost doesn't really come into it when you consider the prices the holiday companies add just to get sufficient bedrooms for a family to stay in ..... as a matter of interest I priced a week for a family of 4 at the Playa Mar in May sharing 1 bedroom ( which isn't ideal ) and it is £1860 self catering

Even if that family paid £200 each for flights and another £80 return on resort hoppa I know they could find many many better located 2 bed plus apartments with pool in May for less than the £980 a week they would have left.

Actually I've gone on a bit and strayed from topic but perhaps this is a good subject for another thread

Excellent post CD and I totally agree with you. Some of the one bedrooms
expected to accommodate a family of 4 are tiny too. Going private has so much more to offer and as you say costs less per person overall. The complexes are only too happy to welcome outsiders to join them for entertainment for the cost of a drink or two. From their point of view they need numbers for atmosphere as well as the extra revenue they bring.
A good topic for a new thread as you said.

Provided the sunbeds are used solely by the people who are entitled to them (IE have paid for them) there should be no shortages.
