Default Villa Concha Aparthotel - A Review

I thought I would post a review of this very good aparthotel as it might be useful for someone else.

My 9 year old son and I decided to stay here because I couldn't justify - or more to the point! - afford the cost of a private apartment. Our one bedroom apartment cost £354 for 7 nights from Monday May 31 to Monday 7 June which was cheaper than the cheapest private apartment that is advertised in here.

I did a lot of research both on here and tripadvisor and Villa Concha got lots of positive reviews. And I am pleased to say that the reviews were right, this is a great place to stay.

We had a 1 bed apartment which consisted of a lounge / dining room, tiny kitchen, a balcony, some stairs leading to a twin bedroom and bathroom. It was comfortable rather than plush but perfectly fine for our needs. But I would think that if you had to fit a family of 4 into the apartment it would be a tight squeeze and my opinion would probably be different. But for the 2 of us it was perfect. I will put some photos on the next two posts so you can see what it looked like.

We had asked when we booked with Alpharooms that we be placed in a quiet room away from the bar and this is certainly what we got. There is entertainment in the bar and around the pool but we didn't hear a peep from our room (number 220).

The aparthotel complex is very child friendly and my 9 year old loved the pool. They seemed to have an excellent kids club for under 7s as all the kids seemed to be having a brilliant time whenever we saw them. It is a short 10 minute walk to the Marina and 2 minutes to the beach.

The bar does food which was quite nice the one time we ate there, has nightly entertainment - a kids disco at 8.15PM followed by a cheesy turn like for instance an Elvis impersonator at 9.15PM or so - and there was also a shop on site. The shop was OK for essentials but a bit pricey. There was no wireless available but there were 4 computers available to check emails etc for €1 per 10 minutes which was reasonable.

There was also a games room that contained some quite dated arcade games, an air hockey machine and a pool table. There was another pool table in the bar and one more outside by the pool. There was also a table tennis table by the pool too. My son had a great time playing with all of these.

So overall I can heartily recommend this place if you are staying in PP and have a child. If you have more than one child it could be a tight squeeze but plenty of other families with 2 kids seemed to cope just fine.

The kitchen (note that the proverbial cat would struggle to be swung in here)

Default villa concha aparthotel

Hi Simon

I was very interested to read your review as I am considering these apartments for me and OH in September. They are in the right location for us and I am attracted by the pool but my OH has a slight disability/walking difficulty and there are a couple of other things you may be able to tell me -

is there a lift?
do all the apartments have stairs up to bedroom/bedroom?

my OH finds steps/stairs particularly difficult so a split level apartment would be no good for us

we stayed in the Villa Concha some years back and were originally allocated a duplex room overlooking the pool...due to mobility problems we asked to be moved to a standard one bedroom (there was no problem doing this)..we were on the same side (facing the Pollesa Park) as the one pictured above but it was great..bigger than the duplex

Hi Easylife

We (2+2) have stayed in the villa concha twice and can highly recommend it (very family orientated). We never stayed in the split level so apart from a one step up floor from entrance door to all other rooms this should not be a problem, i hope. There are two lifts from reception to all floors, but if you email reception (or request through your travel agent) explaining your mobility problems, i'm sure they will do all they can to faciltate you ie ground floor apartment. The beach is a 5 minute walk and the main square is 15 minute walk (assuming a slowish pace for both), the beauty about P.P. amongst many other things is that it is a very flat walk and no K2 to conquer as we have found to our cost in other resorts. The food served at the concha is fine, but there are so many good restaurants in P.P. it would be a shame not to try them. I do hope you enjoy your stay as we always have.

ps I thought I would mention this as regarding prices for private apartments, for the 1st time we have booked a private apartment which appears to be very nice for 9 days (1 or 2 streets from villa concha) and it has worked out reasonably cheaper than booking villa concha (through travel agent), in fact am regretting not booking for the 14 days as it would have worked out £300/400 cheaper than going through travel agent.

Roll on end July and cant wait to post my experience.

Do let us all know how you get on, and once again, have a ball

regards

Gary

Red face villa concha aparthotel

Hi guys

Thanks for your replies but I have to confess that I feel a right idiot - I have realised that I have mixed up the name of the apartments I wanted information about and it is actually the Oro Playa not the Villa Concha that we were considering

Easylife

Is this just for yourself and OH

If so, I am not sure the Ora Playa would be for you

I do know some people who like it there and return each year and we have called in to visit them a few times when our holidays coincided ..... also confess to taking the kids there when they were younger so they could join in the mini disco ....... but it isn't somewhere I would choose to stay if I didn't have small kids to please ( to be honest it isn't somewhere I would have chosen to stay even with small kids ) ..... If there are only 2 of you I would probably suggest the Sin Pins; Miramar, La Singala or Hostel Bahia as a better alternative ........ all in similar area to the Ora Playa and less "frantic"

In fat there was a post the other day from a couple who arrived at the Ora Playa and decided to not even unpack and moved themselves to La Singala ...... I did think "wise move" when I read it

I am sure this may well invite many posts in favour of the Ora Playa and thats fine as we all like different things ..... but I am just giving my opinion which is that whenever I have been there it has been frantic, full of kids running around; the pool was so busy you couldn't have a swim in it, the entertainment was very strange ..... I remember wondering if a slightly risque drag act should follow straight on from the mini disco ........ I guess the words I would use to sum it up would be a bit brash .......
