Default Hotel Puerto Azul

We stayed in this hotel for 3 years in a row May 96, 97 & 98 and thought it was excellent as a family hotel in a lovely area. We originally chose it because it was in the northern end of the resort and near the Pine Walk. Being a Thomson hotel it had a kids club. Our boys were then 8 & 10 thru 10 & 12 and they loved it. When we visited it was a Thomson Gold hotel with lots of adult entertainment (which we were not keen on!) & some for kids. Now that is a SuperFamily hotel I assume there is even more for kids which is how it should be. I also understand that parents are now given pagers so they can escape whilst the kids are in the clubs!

The accommodation is similar to a one bedroom self-catering apt even though it is half-board. You get a living area with table & chairs etc. & optional fridge (well worth it) & two sofas which are pull-out beds plus bathroom and twin bedroom - just right for a family of four.

The food was OK. It is a buffet & pretty monontonous. A lot of the cooking is 'international' - we would have preferred more local dishes - there was one demo of how to make paella. But again the kids loved it. All in all if the children are happy so are the parents. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a family hotel in a beautiful location.

Stayed in this hotel 6 years in a row. Brilliant for families and couples a good number of years ago. Now superfamily avoid it if you are a couple as even the late entertainment is geared around the kids. Staff however are fantastic.
