Can anyone reccomend a hotel in the area that would suit my 13 year old son who is sport mad football mainly thought the playa mar looked more suitable for toddlers and younger children but having never stayed there could be wrong.

There is a sports type holiday complex called Club Pollensa ....... I havn't stayed but have heard good reports ( though they are from 10years ago or more so you may want to look fro a more recent recommendation

They seem to have a full programme of sports

Only problem is that it is actually around the bay between Puerto Pollensa and Alcudia ....... you can walk to the centre of PP from there but it is around an hours walk ( about 2miles ) ................. always busses and cabs and C'an Caruss and Tango both within walking distance

I also know there is a Gym at the Duva apartments but don;t know if there are any more sports facilitries

Or how about staying in an apartment or Villa ( plenty on the site ) and take advantage of sail and surf for sailing or windsurfing ( they do courses ) and also hiring a Kayack ....... the Kayack people also do organised trips so you could maybe get yourself on one of these with your 13 year old or send them on their own depending upon their confidence and how mature a 13 year old they are .................. I know my daughter was practically an adult by 13 but my nephew still a child at 16 ..... he grew up in the end though lol

Friends of mine with very sporty teenagers loved Club Pollentia but as mentioned above it is quite a way from the centre & so wouldn't suit me at all. It really depends if you want to be in walking distance of the bars, cafes & restaurants in the evening.

One of my sons once spent most of one holiday learning to windsurf & the other used to do scuba. Am afraid I'm not sure about football - won't it be too hot?

CP have tennis courts, 3 pools 1 indoor, a hard football / basketball pitch, bikes for hire, archery, boules

depends when you go as to how many like-minded/aged people will be there

the 'animateurs' try to organise activities, we have been going @ May 1/2 term for 7 years, & are back in a couple of weeks, after a week in a villa in llenaire

I recommend it, but is is a hike from the port

bus every 15 mins up to about 8 was 1€, but cab back if you go out in evening

would suggest looking at 'all inclusive' for best value

Duva have a nice deep pool, gym and numerous (six or seven) tennis courts. They do cycle hire as well. Table tennis and pool table available. There's a sandy volleyball court and loads of space if you just want a kick-about or something. My son is also 13 - wore me out last year! He still can't beat the old man though. About 15 minutes pleasant stroll through back lanes to the Port. Nice to walk off your evening meal. Although there is a bus stop right outside if you are feeling particularly lazy. Can't tell you what the food is like as we didn't eat there but heard it was ok. It was our first trip to PP and we looked at Club Pollensa but decided it was too far from the main restaurants and bars in PP (I think we were right). We are returning to Duva in June.

There is a link to Duva website in the Hotels & Aparthotels section.

Not in the position of bevgt, but reading the helpful and friendly replies to his request I must say what a very pleasant bunch of contributors we have on this forum.
It's a pleasure to check the forum in the morning, get the weather from sparky (thanks again) and see what's new. Then check to webcam. What a perfect start to the day! Next best thing to being there!

Theres the sports centre at the back, just beside the indoor swimming pool, there's tennis courts there and also a small football area were people arrange kick abouts, if he's got some mates he could book it and arrange a game, also astro-turf stadia and pitches at the far end, think this is more for arranged fixtures, but it is very impressive.
