Hi Merkat, yes they are busy building a block of flats there. The manageress of Mulligans told me last week that they have been given permission to carry on working until the 1st of June instead of the 1st of May, none of the businesses are very happy about it and i don't think the clients in Daina will be either. I know i would be miffed if i had paid mega bucks to stay beside a building site

Interesting and worrying post Sparky. I have booked 2 weeks at the Daina during May. Before I booked I was worried about the building works. I contacted the Daina direct and was told by email that all work would have to stop by 1st May. I went ahead and booked. As you can imagine I was a bit surprised to see yoiur message last night.

Again I emailed the Daina today and they told me they were pleased to inform me that by law the works must stop between 1st MAy and 31 October.

I am in two minds whether to try and find new accommodation or not. If I arrive and the works are still on then I am stuck!

Thanks a lot Sparky - much appreciated. Don't worry! I am not losing sleep over it but it could put a dampener on the holiday.

Chemical Dave,

If you take the following link and look at the blogs written on March 1st and March 21st the extended building restrictions are mentioned.

My Mum and Dad returned from the Daina yesterday and it made my Dad's holiday watching the workmen from his balcony. They said there was not as much noise and far less dust than their visit there this time last year.

Well it is now the 4th of May. I was wondering if the building work next to the Daina has stopped on 1st May as it would normally do by law, or as suggested here it will be going on till June.

If anyone is passing perhaps they could let me know. Hopefully they will be able to report that all the workers have gone on to summer jobs and the site is closed up!.

Sorry mate but i spoke to the manageress of Mulligans at the weekend and the bad news is they have permission to carry on until 15th June. She said they have all complained but to no avail.

Thanks Sparky

Thought as much. Better pack my ear defenders and look forward to an early wake up call courtesy of their pneumatic drills.

My wife and I stayed at Daina Apartments. Luckily two of the nights were Friday and Saturday, so we didn't suffer too much. However, it was a shock to be woken up at 7.45 by the noise from the worksite, as we too had understood that the building work should have stopped on 1st May.

We were told by the hotel receptionist that due to the lamentable state of the construction industry in Spain, special extensions had been given. C'est la vie!
