Default Hostel Bahia amd Eolo

Hi,

My daughter and I are coming out for 4 nights in October ...... thought we would stay at the Miramar, Daina or Sis Pins but no availability. We want to be central and arn't really looking for luxury just basic clean accomodation.

I've always lovel the Bahia ( eaten there ang had many a night cap on way back to appartment ) and thought it may be a good place to stay but then I noticed the warning on the alpharooms site ...... states it is really basic and only suitable for budget travellers ....... which gives the impression of some student backpacking place ...... though this isn;t what the place seems like as you pass by and eat there ...... also been to the loos .... no problem there and always a good indication re the rest of the place

So ............. has anyone ever stayed there and if so, what's the verdict ( also are the rooms all en suite ...... can't get that info from the website but have actually emailed so may get the answer to that elsewhere )

Another option is the Eolo ....... location is great, have eaten there and been less than impressed but would be grateful for any inside info there as well

Thanks

caz

We stayed at the Hostal Bahia in Oct 2001 (so it may have been done up since then). We came out on a property hunt (& found one). We stayed in one of the rooms at the front above the front door so you get a great view. Pretty sure it was ensuite (we wouldn't have stayed otherwise). It was simple but fine. There was no aircon (which was fine in October). Anyway we have stayed in all sorts of hotels 3-5 * so although it wasn't luxury - it was fine & the position is great.

Hi
We stayed 2 or 3 nights at the Eolo a couple of years ago and found it was fine for short stay - the rooms are quite small but very clean and with all the basics. Rooms are ensuite and breakfast (basic continental) is served in the room - and eaten on that great bacony.
A friend of ours stayed at the Mar Calma, just 1 road back from the sea, near the Eolo, that too was fine.
I think Goleta has been recommended by forum members too.

Thanks,

Decided on the EOLO, unbelievebly low proce for a central location and sea view and balcony

Looking forward to our 4 nights in October ...... we usually rent a big 4 bed appt and end up with most of our extended family tagging along ......... it will be a different experience just us 2 girls in a hotel on the seafront

We stayed ta the Eolo for 4 nights last week. the accomodation was small and basic, but clean and the owners / staff are really friendly and helpful.

We had a 4th floor room overlooking the 1919 Bar. The view was fantastic, I have great snaps of a sunrise and a rainbow ( will add them to Flikr when I get round to it )

Would I recommend it ?

For a short break out of the high season , definitely ..... it is clean, fantastically located and really reasonable.

For a longer period of time ......... probably not ..... but I wouldn't like any hotel for more than a few days, I like the space an apartment affords me and despite spending loads of time in the sea, daughter also missed the pool.

Also ...... there is no aircon ......... it was warm last week and we needed to leave the door to the balcony open overnight. There was a tolerable amount of noise from the Irish Bars and the Bar 1919, which died down well before midnight .......... in the high season, I don't think the amount of noise would be tolerable and I know it would carry on well past midnight.
