It is about 20 years since my wife and I have been to PP so we are looking forwrd to staying at the Hostal Bahia for a week in September (on the basis of strong recommendations in many reviews). Whilst we are booked into a standard double room I thought I would enquire about the additional cost for a seaview room. It turned out that a seaview room (without balcony) was available but I was more than slightly surprised to find that the extra charge was nearly £42 per room per night. So will stick to our standard room and spend the £42 at Naciente or somewhere (following the recommendations in this excellent forum).

Does anyone have any experience of the standard rooms at Hostal Bahia? I am sure they will be OK but would hate to be parked into some sort of garret!

I've stayed at the Bahia on 2 occasions and both times we were in one of the back rooms, no balcony, overlooking the street at the back of the property. No problems with the room at all. I didn't really miss having a balcony - you get to eat breakfast on the lovely terrace overlooking the beach every day so that was a nice daily fix anyway. I don't think the extra money for the balcony is worth it, but each to his own.

Many thanks Linzzz - I feel very encouraged by your reponse. The fact that you have stayed there twice is a good sign in itself! So Naciente here we come!

Hi josco

We stayed at the Hostel Bahia in May07 and had a lovely time, friendly staff, nice clean accommodation in a great location. Breakfast on the terrace almost on the beach takes some beating, we also had a room at the rear of the hostel which had a nice view over someones garden and the mountains further back. On arrival prior to being shown to our room we enquired about upgrading to a see view but found the price prohibitive. On reflection our room was fine and when we stay there again as we will would book a simillar room, we enjoyed throwing open the old style window shutters on another sunny day.
check out my brief review with pictures on TA.

Very many thanks Carl - your kind reply tells me all I need to know. Your photgraphs are super and it can be seen that you and your wife were having a great time!

It's a few years sice we stayed at Bahia, but I remember it as great value with very clean, comfortable rooms. We too stayed at the rear of the hostel with great views of the mountains.

We stayed there in the days before the "great storm" when it was truly situated on Pine Walk. Sadly, Bahia's part of the bay caught the major part of that storm and is decidedly "Pineless Walk" now......mind you, it's improved the view looking out to sea from the hotel.
