Default flora apartments - building work

Hi, We are coming out to Puerto Pollensa on 11th September to stay at the Flora. The reviews sounds good on the apartments so hopefully, they will be fine but our travel agents (first choice) have written to us to say that there will be building work opposite the building. They say it was stopped during the season but is due to commence again in september. This is a bit worrying - can anyone give me some feedback on this and also any updates on the flora apartments would be appreciated. I love reading all the comments as we have never been to Puerta Pollensa before and this site has been really useful. Thanks, Ellie.

Default Flora Building work

Hi Ellie,

I've stayed in the Flora loads of times as for location to everywhere its hard to beat. As for the apartments itself with Raschid behind the bar keeping everyone entertained and Pedro behind the desk at reception you'll be well looked after.

As for the building work you wont be able to see it from the pool and depending on what way your apartment faces you should see it from it either, i would request a low floor pool view that should help. You may hear noise. Basically about 100mts slightly more maybe to the left of the Flora there used to be a kids play park which has been knocked down and they are building what looks like luxury private apartments about ten floors high there are cranes etc but they're well fenced in. They seem to start early have a siesta and then finish early evening.

I hope this helps... any questions let me know

Rachel

Hi Rachel, Thanks for your information. I think we will just ride the building work as we really want to stay at the Flora as it seems exactly right for us. We have requested a pool view so hopefully we will get that and the building work will not effect us.

I am so looking forward to exploring Puerto pollensa - i can imagine many a lovely stroll along the pine walk. We have never been before so any suggestions for us to try would be much appreciated. I suppose i should say we are in are early 50's so nightclubs are not are scene!! Our ideal evening is to go out to a restaurant and enjoy the wine and food - I have read some great reviews on Puerto Pollensa and i am really looking forward to seeing it for myself. Thanks again, Ellie

we have just come back and there is no problem with building work but no one mentions how dangerous the swiming pool at the flora is for children apart from the paddling pool the main pool is very deep, with no shallow end.
It was on a holiday programe once highlighting dangerous pools in spain but nothing has been done to change it ,such a shame as the flora are lovely.

OK, it's not ideal - but - it's only dangerous if you either don't supervide your kids, or let non-swimmers use it without floatation aids.

IIRC the main pool has a shallow section, which then drops off into the deeper main pool. I taught my then-3 year old to swim there. At the end of the fortnight she was happily splashing away across the deep end (with me in close attendance) and a concerned (and non-swimming) mother watching closely.
