Default Palma - March 2018

Has anyone got any recommendations for staying in Palma? Looking to possibly book a long weekend in march with some friends. Not sure which area is best to stay in, or good areas for eating and drinks apart from the sea front.

Hi, we had a few days in Palma last December. We stayed in Hotel Continental, a lovely hotel which was very central, both for shops and also for promenade/beach. We had the most beautiful weather for December and really enjoyed our few days. Eating was a bit hit and miss, as, because we hadn't been before, we weren't sure where to go. We did have a lovely meal in Antico Molino which was close to our hotel and situated in an old windmill.......very unusual. If you haven't been before I'd advise you to do your homework with regards accommodation and eating places. I'm sure you will love it as we did

We stay at the Trypp Bellver on the front an easy walk into the town and just in front of the Santa Catalina area which is very popular and has some good Restaurants a lovely market which has a seafood and champagne bar in there !

We have for longer stays had an apartment just of the Born Really like Palma we have over the years had some lovely meals at Can Eduardo which is on the Harbour but would suggest research Trip Advisor for current best Restaurants before you go

There is a very unusual cocktail bar called Abaco in the old town Cocktails are expensive and not very good ( you can get beer and wine ) but it is beautiful inside very old huge displays of fruit and flowers

Lovely for wandering if you have some decent weather !

I would suggest the following:- Go into google search bar and put in Hotels in Palma, this will bring all of the Hotels both with and without offers, most of these Hotels have a location map on them and then you can use the one best suited for you. The same goes for restaurants but between now and when you go check the daily bulletin online and most days they give restaurants reviews from staff that go to the restaurants specifically to check them out and give true reviews.

Thanks for the tips! Sorry Ive taking a while to get back on here and read them. I posted the thread then been a bit busy.

I've managed to get us what looks like a good deal staying in hotel Nakar on Jaume III. Looks really nice. I've had many a day trip into Palma but never stayed there, so it's mainly good areas for bars and restaurants I'm looking for.

PB, i stay there regular....a fabulous city. Was there a couple of weeks ago in a great 1 bed apartment just off La Rambla - unfortunately it is not being let anymore due to the new licencing issue. As some other posters have stated - get over to santa catalina - great restaurants and bars. visit the market there and the bigger mercado del oliver.

Hi Pocket Buddy

That's a great location to stay. We've stayed in the Saratoga just round the corner in March and its a great location for the old town, the shops and the marina. Try out restaurant Koa. Try and book if poss but we were lucky on the night. Restaurants are busy even at that time of year so if you can book at lunchtime for the evening it is better. Enjoy.

It does look like a great location, to get to where ever you want to be. Probably ended up paying a bit more for it, but I'm sure it will be worth it.

As I said, I've been into Palma lots of times, but only visits through the day and back upto Pollensa, so will be nice to stay there and try out some of the bars and Restaurants. I'll look into Koa, thanks

I agree, the Saratoga, which is family owned and run, is probably the best hotel in that area.

Great roof terrace and Jazz concerts several nights of the week.

The breakfast buffet, although not cheap, is excellent.

Another alternative is the Hotel Hostal Cuba, which is right in the middle of Santa Catalina, with itīs market, restaurants, bars and clubs.

It was pretty run down a few years ago, but can now be classified as "boutique", with prices to match.

Well, had my weekend in Palma last weekend, and absolutley loved it. Nice weather, about 17-18 degrees, a trip to Soller on the train, and plenty walking around the narrow streets. Probably far too much to eat and drink, but thats what holidays are for!!! I would really recommend the hotel we booked, Hotel Nakar on Jaime III.

We were there for 5 days last week and really enjoyed it

At long last we did the Soller train We have driven there several times but really enjoyed the train

There are so many Restaurants in Santa Catalina we didnt stray far from there at night It was necessary to book any night in some of them Had one memorable evening in an outdoor Restaurant there with heavy rain and water running underneath Great atmosphere and full of locals

Will definately be returning soon but PP in June to look forward to !
