Default New 4* or 5* hotel in Cala San Vincente

https://ultimahora.es/noticias/part-...ant-vicen.html

My Spanish is just good enough to work out that permission has been granted to demolish the old Hostal Mayol in CSV and replace it with a new four or five star hotel. No timescales but work had started on clearing the site when we were out in May.

Had lunch recently at the Bar Mallorca, which is directly across the road, and the manager said that the demolition was due to start at the end of the season due to the dust etc but should be up and running next year

Hi everyone

Somebody has sent us a message asking about the new hotel that has replaced the old Hostal Mayol in CSV.
She has asked the name of it and if it is open at the moment?

Can you help as we are not sure?

Thanks in advance.

Toni

I think that's unlikely as they were still building in February! In fact they were digging up the whole area bu the car park including the grotty beach toilets.

Anyone else been over to CSV lately?

We dropped by CSV during the second week of March and the building site is still .. a building site, albeit upto the third/fourth floor. Assuming work will have to stop during the summer, I would guess it could be 2020/21 before the place is up and running. A few comments - 1) most of the pathways between the bays have been retiled (not concreted), 2) the guy who runs Bar Mallorca was like a dog with two ..... thinking about the extra custom he is expecting when the new hotel opens, and 3) the car park to the side of Bar Mallorca is now a storage area for all the building equipment

There is a Facebook site called 'I love Cala San Vicente', which you may find interesting. ;0)

Big Sal

Has Cala San been put back together again? We walked over in Feb from PP - one of our must have walks each visit - couldn't get any where. Any idea what will be open from next week?

Still messy, dusty and noisy. Work continuing at Don Pedro and road to be resurfaced outside Poli. Nui, Cal Patro, Windsurf, Bar Mallorca, La Tasca, Poli, are open. Simar, Las Marinas, supermarket (now stocking shelves), souvenir shops, La Moraleja are closed. Beach umbrella posts up, no hats yet. Bus stops temporarily moved to La Moraleja. Still very much work in progress! Same each season. They do seem to get complete just in time for the start of the season though, surprisingly!

One consequence of the changes is that there will be less on-street parking as the pavements have been widened.
