IRU Apartments
Hi All,
Been trying to contact Carlos at the Iru with a view to booking his apartment, but had no response at all despite several messages and enquiries on the web site. Is anyone aware of any problems there, as it seems odd that he hasnt replied, especially as the web shows availability for the dates we want.
Hope nothing has happened

Hi Colandbev.
My parents have a booking at the IRU apartments in October and paid Carlos the deposit a few months ago so I hope there isn't a problem. Carlos was very quick in resonding to their request/booking at the time and they are expecting to pay the remainder of the cost within the next 3 weeks.
I'd be surprised if there is an issue, Carlos gets some great feedback on one of the review websites.
I hope you manage to make contact with him soon. Please PM me if you discover there is something my folks should know...
Steve.

Hi Brisbane
Sorry mate didnt mean to worry you. having met him I think Carlos is a very nice guy, and the apartments are stunning inside. I didnt mean to imply there was anything to worry about, just that its unusual for him not to have replied. No doubt he is just very busy. Trouble is I have held off booking an alternative until I heard from him, and I think I might have missed out on that one now. I may try phoning him soon.

Carlos does also run the restaurant IRU & I regularly get enquiries from people who try to contact him - & I suspect he is just very busy - so I can only suggest you try the restaurant too puertopollensa.com/restaurants_bars_cafes.html#iru

Thanks Pollensa,
Just seen your post.
My Wife did in fact phone Carlos this morning, and it would seem all is ok and he has just been too busy to respond. As you say, he runs the restaurant as well (and very fine it is too!).
We are just waiting for him to confirm available dates now, and hopefully we will be out there soon enjoying his fabulous food.
Cant wait, just hope that by holding off booking till we heard back from him, we havent missed out on the alternative apartment should Carlos not have any availability. Looking forward to getting back there soon.
Hope this will put your mind at rest too Brisbane.
Happy Holidays

Has Carlos sold up?
I noticed that Carlos's IRU apartments no longer appear to be advertised for holiday lets. Then I found the two second floor ones advertised on another website for sale. The only available apartment for rent appears to be 1A, which was not one of his. I wonder if he's already sold 1B?
I wonder if even these front line apartments at the marina, and directly next to the Daina hotel, are not licensed as "touristic" and this is the reason for him selling them off. I know the restaurant goes back three generations in his family, presumably he will hold on to this side of the business...
How many other front line apartments have gone the same way..?
Steve.

Not just frontline I'm afraid Steve! I think you will find many apartments have joined the for sale club mainly brought on by the ridiculous situation.

Thanks for the response eleanor. I would have thought that most of the longstanding frontline apartment buildings situated very close to the Daina hotel (like the Elena and Alisha) may have had touristic licences due to the length of time that they have been used for such purposes, and their location - perhaps not.
The second floor Iru apartments have a sale price of 595000 euros, which I suppose may have justified the mid-seasonal rental rates of well over 1000 euros per week, but I wonder who would opt to pay the asking price for what is essentially only a home, with little chance of securing all year round long term rental at a rate which would justify a purchase... Nice place to live in the summer but you wouldn't want to pay such a high premium during the winter...
I'm aware that the Canaries are also suffering from the same crack-down on non touristic properties being offered for holiday rentals.
Steve.

We don't know if or why these apartments have been sold but there are many properties in the Port that are on the market, some of them have been for a very long time so it might have nothing to do with recent problems.
Please can you continue any discussion about the "touristic"/tax inspector situation on this thread which has been running for a while now thank you :- http://www.forum.puertopollensa.com/...nspectors.html. .

I do not think he has sold the apartments.

The discussion was about the potential sale of Iru apartments and others for sale along the front. Steve questioned if the sale was related to the licence situtation as the possible reason for the sale and others along the front. I pointed out that many properties are for sale now because of the situation. It wasn't really relevant to the touristic"/tax inspector thread but a general observation of the overall implication of the situation in general.
It is a fact that the implications of the situation may dribble over to many threads and subjects. Of course if any of my posts are directly relating to touristic"/tax inspector I will post in the relevant thread.
