5E -4£, 20E - 16£. Etc. Bring back 1.25 rate.

When I was a student:

1£ sterling = 12 Swiss francs
1 US$ = 4.32 Swiss francs

Today:

1£ Sterling = 1.266 Swiss francs (nearly ten times less)
1 US$ = 0.91 Swiss francs (nearly five time less)

So go the markets after August 15, 1971 and Nixon's annoucement that the US no longer followed the Gold Exchange Standard.

The Pound-to-Euro exchange rate reached a new two-year high last week and may be likely to establish a more durable foothold above 1.17 over the coming days as divergence between the UK and Eurozone economies remains top of mind among investors.

Happy days....might be a good time to exchange a few quid for the summer ahead!

I know Easter is approaching but do not put all your eggs in one basket.

Well, Sterling is now struggling to hang on at around 1.15. So much for the surge ..
