What town is that and how/where on earth do you get these rates? Couple of weeks ago I could only get 1.13 in my town's local banks.

Please let me into your secret!

Try some of the loan/cheque cashing shops...not sure if I can mention names here. We have always found them to have some of the best rates around In fact I'm sure I saw around 1.17 recently in one of them

Mine was a cheque centre, I know you can get better on line and if you collect, I just like to do it with cash and get it there and then!

[QUOTE=sws97sdg
Euro visa exchange rate is 1.21 today, even better for cash withdrawals overseas[/QUOTE]

Just upgraded our Nationwide current account to FlexPlus which, as part of the package, allows fee free cash withdrawals overseas. So looking forward to visa rates when in PP this August.

Just booked car hire, villa etc for this year in July/August, booked in Euros so been checking rates. Asda 1.178 Sainsburys 1.178, Tesco 1.174 all with free delivery if order over £500.
I also have a link to a interesting blog which is run by a foreign currency trader that gives his thoughts on the direction of the euro throughout the year. (although this is commercial rates, its a good indication)Dont think Im allowed to put it here but if anyone interested Im happy to send privately, current commercial rates are 1.207.

Great, useful replies here as always from forum members. Looks like the Nationwide is good then? get a FlexPlus account and put some money in it before going out to PP then withdraw it from the bank.

Will the local bank make a charge though?

Santander also do not charge for withdrawls from their cashpoint in the centre if you have a Santander account.

Understand its the same basis as their visa credit card - no fees on either. You get the daily visa exchange rate, which on past experience is invariably higher than any other consumer means of exchange. The Fairfx cash card has become redundant.

Plus, UK and foreign car breakdown cover with Britannia Rescue for two cars, saving the £60 I was paying direct, for one car.

Looks a good deal unless I've been reeled in by the marketing people!
