Plus, UK and foreign car breakdown cover with Britannia Rescue for two cars, saving the £60 I was paying direct, for one car.

Looks a good deal unless I've been reeled in by the marketing people!

Was out week comm 24th April - seems such a long time ago - used Nationwide Flex Plus debit card to get cash from atm and credit card to pay for meals and hotel.
I've checked the statements and we never got less than 1.21 to the Pound, with no extra fees or commission. You must pay in Euros at the point of sale.
With the other perks on the Flex Plus account like interest on balances, cash back on the credit card, Britannia Rescue and travel insurance etc I'm happy to pay the £10 per month to run the account.:)

we always take a small amount of cash usually changed at a money shop type place rather than a uk bank

always use our Clydesdale bank debit card for meals and atm withdrawals never had less than 1.15 average over the piece and very happy with that

only problem was one year local atms would not take our card for withdrawals for 2 days, was fine eating out using card but was strange having no cash on hip so to say

whaleywanderer 11-06-2014 10:05

Just checked the Interbank rate.......... 124.12 :);) highest it's been for ages!

roig cat 12-06-2014 07:45

2007 at a guess?

whaleywanderer 13-06-2014 09:34

It's still going up, it's been as high as 125.13 this morning!:)

Gommar Goffer 13-06-2014 17:22

Yes - the intimation from the Bank of England that interest rates may rise soon than thought is having a positive effect on the rate

whaleywanderer 04-07-2014 09:02

Still going in the right direction, 126.23 this morning, great for all of you coming out in the next few weeks.:)

lollipop 04-07-2014 21:11

Good for the pensions too!!!

gers1873 04-07-2014 22:13

looks like things are up for us in the uk official figures this week show our economy is growing faster than any other eu country

just changed some pounds to us dollars for a short business trip next week and got over 1.75 to the pound, not been know for years either!

CathB 05-07-2014 08:27

Not bad in some exchange places either...rate was 1.243€ at Ramsdens yesterday :)

whaleywanderer 15-08-2014 09:22

Well we've been riding high for the last month which has been good news for everyone. The interbank rate monthly high reached 1.2689 but unfortunately it has taken a nose dive this week and is now back down to 1.2468 let's hope it doesn't go much lower. It has been refreshing to see it gradually climbing.

Gommar Goffer 15-08-2014 10:30

Yep - the Governor of the Bank of England opened his mouth yesterday and sterling took a dive!

joey36 19-09-2014 09:27

Why? Are you aware of something that's going to change the worlds economies?

Yep, and it's going to get even better now they are going to stick 60 billion a month into what has proved to be the largest failed financial experiment in history. Common market RIP. :)

Sunshinedrive 24-01-2015 15:17

1.30 today in the UK! A 7 year high. Me thinks some spending money is needed to be exchanged at that rate:-)

majprop 24-01-2015 21:19

Do it before the Greek elections tomorrow just in case.............

rebel 25-01-2015 19:54

Hi all
I exchanged on Friday and got £1.33 after costs that will help with the maintenance bills.

Labore 09-02-2015 14:18

Exchange rates always drop as a general election approaches due to uncertainty in the market so might be an idea to buy currency now if you can afford to if travelling in March, April or May.

whaleywanderer 24-02-2015 11:35

There must have been some good financial news, just checked and the interbank rate is 136.63 euros to the pound. A good time to get your holiday spends, shop around though for the best tourist rates.

Nick 24-02-2015 11:39

Glad I'm not with the "Bank of Cumberland"!!!

Papillon 28-02-2015 18:15

Talking to a German economist recently and he believes the euro will lose 3 cents a month to Sterling during the monthly quantitive easing. As this continues till September 2015 you can see why many are predicting rates of 1.5 to 1.55 by the end of the summer.

whaleywanderer 10-03-2015 10:20

The £ to € exchange rate reached 140.00 this morning, first time since 2008.:)
