I was going to add my own thoughts but don’t need to now, lots of sensible post and Gordon’s and CD post said everything I wanted to say and better, brilliant posts.

Can I just add speaking as a Moderator, not on here, I am dismayed by the lack of respect shown to the Mods and owner here, these people are supplying a great resource to us for free and spending their own time doing so. The task is thankless and payless, it’s a difficult job to decide when to intervene or when not to, you are always wrong what ever you decide to do in the eyes of some members. The Mods have been given the right to act for the owner as they cant be available 24 hours a day themselves, and they should expect the same respect the owner has. They are trying to do the best for the forum and should have our support.

Well said, its a thankless task. I have been on this site for a number of years, only joining fairly recently. I wish the site had been available when we first started going to PP in 1987.

I must admit, since joining this site I have noticed anything negative about PP is very much frowned upon.

i feel moderators are an essential part of the forum (as obviously forum members are!) as they do keep posts on track. the various threads, a-z restaurant guide, restaurant location maps etc are a vital part of the forum and are most helpful to everyone especially newcomers who are trying to get a general feel for the resort and quality/type of restaurants/bars. if posts were not moderated and allowed to continue into slanging matches then that can result in fewer members which would be a shame.

keep up the good work, i for one truely appreciate it.

regards

gary

Default comments about anything

I absolutely love this site. I have been to PP 34 times, and own a small flat there.
We visit 6 times per year, in all seasons, and there is always a great time to be had.I love reading all the posts - whatever is said !

My problem with this site is that I have been "too afraid" to comment on many threads, as everyone (quite rightly) has a different opinion, and comments are often "shot down" or ridiculed.

Clearly, members must be allowed to say what they genuinely feel (within reason). Not everything is perfect at PP, but most things are!

All the best to all, keep posting !

Hi Bluesky - The vast majority of people who post on this site are extremely friendly and make you feel welcome. Yes you are correct that a few do have strong views. I consider myself to be fairly tough but even after posting many many times I find myself excusing myself and apologising in advance for any upset I may cause. We are all entitled to our opinion and I believe my views are as valid as the next person. I suggest if you feel you would like to post then do so and don't worry too much about a negative or personal reaction. I think they are few and far between and stamped on very quickly. Also I think a very good point to make is that you cannot be seen! lol

Hi all

After years of reading this site, months of dithering about joining and
weeks of actually getting around to it I joined.

Over the last couple of years I have noticed that some of the posts
have become a little more aggressive & personal in some instances.

My idea of what a discussion forum should be is that it`s an open
invite for anyone (tourist, resident, whoever) to have a civilised chat
with other users sharing tips & advice for the benefit of other users.

Discussion forums are to discuss not snipe, we all have different ideas on things but can discuss & reason without getting uptight about it. This is all
as I understand supposed to be a bit of fun between users and to help
promote PP to new visitors giving valuable advice to make sure they get
best out of their holiday.

Hope i`ve not upset anyone, just would like to see a little more focus
towards what the forum should be about. Fun, discussion & advice.

Thanks for reading

The Wizzard

Thumbs up

After 3 pages of discussion about closed threads, I think we all have the same idea and all agree on how adult we should be about it all. We all want the same thing after all, so lets just get on with it! No offence meant naturally!

Glad to hear that Eleanor.

I just think that if posters don't (bite!) respond to obvious controversial personal comments it stops the fun these posters get out of it!

Support those who give genuine opinion based on their recent experience.

keep posting

Thanks GL - will do. I agree totally that support should be given to those with valid opinions and experiences. We all learn from others which enables us to appreciate PP so much more. Certainly I have a list now of places to visit or eat and places perhaps to avoid. I also feel I have a greater knowledge of PP. A strange thing to say really having had PP as part of my life for so many years. We are able to feed from each other and share experiences - knowledge is power - and other peoples experiences give us that therefore every constructive post in my opinion, should be valued.

Hi all

Is it safe to come out yet ?

Been a bit stormy recently hasn`t it.

Think Belladonna hit the nail on the head on 23/02/10
We all want the same thing for PP which is for it to thrive
in these difficult times. So lets get on and help potential
visitors (and new site members) not scare them off

Think its a winter problem, not enough debate about in season issues
which leaves a big gap in things to debate. A bit like when there is no
footy in the summer, you might be at a loose end for conversation.

Let us encourage the forum to expand and be a fun place to plan your
holidays etc.

Only a member for a few weeks but tuned in regular for updates so feel
at home already (well like a new neighbour) anyway.

Hope no one minds The (Newbie) Wizzards take on this topic. Prefer to
talk PP by choice.

Thanks for reading.

The Wizzard
