Default Weird beasties!

We encountered weird beasties in our villa! They looked a little like a slater / woodlouse but when you touched them they rolled into a perfect ball and rolled away!

Anyone know what it was/ seen this before?

Promise this was observed before alcohol!!! :lol

Woodlice (known by many common names - slater, pill bug) are terrestrial crustaceans with a rigid, segmented, calcareous exoskeleton and fourteen jointed limbs. They form the suborder Oniscidea within the order Isopoda, with over 3,000 known species.

Woodlice in the genus Armadillium can roll up into an almost perfect sphere as a defensive mechanism, hence some of the common names such as pill bug, etc. Most woodlice however are not able to do this.

.... well you did ask ! lol

Sorry Lala, we have them at Bellauba and I have always wondered if they were like slaters in the UK, ur post just made be google for the info... and yes I know, I should get out more

Default We have them in New York, too

Here we call them pill bugs. Look like a little grey trilobite, touch it and it rolls up into a ball. When I was a child, we would touch them with twigs, see them roll up, and then swat them around-- sort of like playing croquet.
