Large bird on pine walk
We noticed that, for the past few days in the Pine Walk area, a large bird with webbed feet and a red wattled beak appears to have taken up residence, dividing its time between a puddle and the grassed area outside El Casinet. I'm not a twitcher and must admit I have no idea what it is - perhaps a Muscovy duck? We are slightly concerned about it and are wondering if it was blown off course by the storm on Tuesday? I have visions of it living the rest of its life alone in a puddle..... Has anyone else seen it (and can you identify it?) - and is there any way of helping it?

Yes- it is a Muscovy duck which normally resides up by the Euroski roundabout.

The muscovy duck was quite often on the beach in front of Little Italy in late September and the start of October.
We heard several passers by referring to it as 'the turkey' :D |
We always call them Dickens or Chucks as they look a cross between a chicken and a duck! Lots of them in La Gola. He's off course because Seba at Little Italy keeps feeding him!! :D

Thanks all - that's a relief to hear that he's being looked after and is used to being a singleton! He certainly looked well fed...... first time I've ever seen a Muscovy duck close up, they are certainly striking.....

I am so sad to report hat the Muscovy duck wandered into the road and was run over and killed by a car :(:(.
