Just had a look now and there are 2 storks on the nest - must be starting early this year, but a lot of tidying up and housekeeping to do by the looks of things ( 2 storks on each of 3 of the German nests!)

What a wee shame for them. I've been watching regularly trying to see how many eggs are there but there is always an attentive parent over them! Hopefully the weather will change soon for them.

A thick covering of snow on all 3 nests this morning.I have never seen that in the couple of years watching the nests. I hope it doesn't impact on the eggs surviving. The parents are obviously doing what nature intended but it's brutal just now.

Looking altogether better this morning in the warming sunshine with most of the snow gone from the nest.

According to some of the info online a short period of snow isn't generally a problem for them and they can also withstand freezing temperatures.
Only a prolonged freezing period might cause problems mainly for finding food.

Finally managed to see the eggs. Rottenbach, Lindheim and Hochstadt each have 5 eggs! So lovely to see the nests looking in better shape. Now awaiting the hatching...
