Default Ladybirds.

I don't know if it's anything to do with the storm last night but there have been loads of ladybirds around today. I've never seen ladybirds in Mallorca before and I've had two land on my face this morning in town and another one later on the beach. They actually land with quite a thud with their hard wings and made me jump out of my skin on each occasion

Be careful, they do bite! Not everyone though! I never knew this until my daughter kept getting bitten when she was young, so I looked it up. Very strange. I also read somewhere that its the males that come out after the rain, but not sure how they would find that little bit of info out!!

Just found this on a website called Weather Lore

“When Ladybirds swarm, expect a day that’s warm.”

Ladybirds are a cold blooded insect, which means that the weather can affect their internal temperature. According to studies, ladybirds will not fly if the temperature goes below 55 degrees fahrenheit. In warm, dry weather, heat gets stored in their shells, flying releases the heat from their bodies. Ladybirds hibernate in winter and are rarely seen, unless there is a mild winter day"

And boy was a it a hot and humid one today 😅
