British Airways cheaper than Easyjet

Some early August BA return flights from London City Airport work out £70 per person cheaper than same date/similar time Easyjet from Gatwick when taking into account luggage and speedy boarding. Additionally you have a larger hold allowance (23kg), can take on a second piece of hand luggage such as handbag or laptop and you get complimentary inflight refreshments. They don't charge for debit card usage either. The only downside is they don't fly on a Saturday. As there are quite a few Tuesday changeovers I looked at 7th August for two weeks and thought £167 per person very reasonable for peak flights.

Thought info might be useful for other Home County based members

I have just booked BA flights from London City Airport for next June for £168 each and think it sounds great for all the reasons you give Marilyn. I just looked at Thomson whom we usually use and they are asking £235 plus £30 for luggage AND they have reduced the allowance from 20kg to 15kg. How is a girl supposed to manage on 15 kg of luggage for 2 weeks!!

Did you fly with them in the end? How was the flight? Has anybody else got any reports of London City Airport?

We live in the suburbs but close to the Docklands Light Railway and think this will be a breeze compared with trailing all around the M25 to Gatwick.

I use the City Airport a fair amount, it is uncrowded, easy to get to & a pleasure to use, but in the past the flights have been expensive ,so they are obviously getting their act together.

I am glad you found some good flights. Yes we used them in April. As Cumberland8 said, London City was uncrowded and a pleasure to use. We are booked again with BA next month. It is so nice to get traditional BA good service and not having to worry about stuffing your handbag into your hand luggage before you board.

BA always were.

Such a shame they shut down most of their european routes from LGW

Thanks for your replies. I can't wait! I might try and sneak another trip in if I can find some more good prices!

I agree that trying to stuff your handbag in your hand luggage is awful. I also think Thomson are really naughty reducing the luggage allowance to 15 kg
