Default Easyjet at Southend

Lots of talk here in sunny Southend this morning that Easyjet have 3 planes at our new airport and this is just the start! Many though Ryanair were on their way so watch this space!

Great news for me just 10 mins away but needs to be confirmed as I've not spotting the orange wings myself as yet - fingers crossed!

Southend is used by airlines for repainting aircraft.Lets hope for your sake that is not the case with the Easyjet planes.

At least Easyjet will advertise it as Southend. If it were Ryanair they'd be pushing it as something like London East, or Cambridge.

Southend is only 50 mins from London and the trains are very regular. The new station at Rochford Southend airport is due to open soon with trains into the City every 15 mins. This will be great as the airport will service those from East London extremely well. Agree Ryanair would probably refer to Southend as London. The majority here in Southend are very happy although there are always the odd few who moan and disagree about any form of change. I really hope that Palma will be on the list of destinations as so far according to their PR company destinations are yet to be fully confirmed.

Eleanor, newest bit of news from DB is;

Meanwhile, easyJet is to establish a new base at Southend airport with services to 10 destinations including the Balearics, Barcelona and Faro.

Southend will become the airline’s 11th United Kingdom base and will be linked by eight trains an hour to London.
A new terminal, owned by the Stobart group opens at the airport in the autumn.

.. Balearics mentioned, so it must be true!!

I see that EasyJet are actually listing it as 'London Southend'.

That really is stretching the imagination.

Oh so I live in London?? Thats news to me! My house has just increased in value! lol

Personally I don't care where they list Southend as being as long as they fly from ten minutes from my home - bliss!

Yes we have had a small airport for many years. Actually based in Rochford just few minutes from Southend.
Up until the extension of the runway and the new railway station opening ready for 2012 it had regular flights to Channel Isles. These will continue but From next year Easyjet will be flying from Southend to various destinations BUT importantly Palma being one of them! This is brilliant news for me - Christmas has come very early!

Palma is confirmed. According to the BBC BBC News - EasyJet to have new Spanish routes from Southend Airport:

"From April 2012 EasyJet will run routes to Alicante, Barcelona, Ibiza, Malaga and Majorca. Other routes are Belfast, Amsterdam and Faro in Portugal."
