Default Flying to the mainland

Flyer - pleased to see you guys at Easyjet are swopping Nectar points for flights and as you are back on the island this has prompted another question which may interest other forum members ...... are NIE residents entitled to the 50% mainland flight discounts? The following is a statement from your 'friends'

Residents of the Canary, Balearic Islands or Ceuta region

In order to be eligible for the 50% discount for residents, passengers must be either Spanish citizens, citizens of other member states of the European Union or citizens of other States that are members of the European Economic Area who can prove that they are resident in the Balearic or Canary Islands and who are travelling between their place of residence to any other part of Spain, or Ceuta residents travelling between Sevilla, Malaga or Jerez to any other part of Spain. Please note that if any of the passengers is not a resident they should book separately.

Proof of residence is to be provided by means of a national identity document or, in the case of citizens of the European Union or the European Economic Area, a valid residence card showing the address that entitles the holder to the discount. Residents whose national ID document does not feature an address or children under 14 who do not have a national ID document must present a valid certificate of residence issued by the town or city council. Members of the Parliament/Senate whose constituency is in the Balearic, Canary Islands or Ceuta region are to present the relevant credentials from the parliament.

Passengers receiving the residents discount should present the required valid proof of residence at the airport which must remain in force until at least the date on which the booked travel ends.

Passengers will be asked to present their valid proof of residence at the point of check-in and at the boarding gate (along with the required travel document for their ......... flight).

.......... will refuse to allow passengers with discounted tickets to board if they are unable to provide their valid proof of residence which matches the details provided to us at the time of booking (along with the required travel document required to travel on a .........flight).

Hi Sun Properties i think you have to have the "Certificado de Registro de Cuidadano de la Union" (Residents Certificate), it is the A4 piece of green paper. This is proof of address and also your N.I.E as both are printed on it.
Hope this helps .

And not only on flying, we also get reductions on ferries to the mainland or other islands. Another great reason to be a resident.

Thanks both. The reason I mentioned it is that I have been looking at having lunch in Barcelona on the way back! If you know where to go at Barcelona airport you can get a free rail ticket into the centre and my flight cost PMI > Barcelona and then Barcelona > UK is cheaper than PMI > UK.
