Overbooking!

LOL! I know what you mean Sparky!

Off subject a little, on our way home last week, we encountered something we havent had a problem with before - Easyjet had overbooked!
They were asking if people would take a 200 euro bribe (my words obviously) to transfer from the Gatwick overbooked flight to take the Luton one!!
Bit too much of a mileage difference to make it worth while at the other end though. Hope this isnt a sign of things to come!

Bella - I wish they would do that to us when we sometimes fly into gatwick as we only live 5 miles from Luton :D

GG

Had an overbooked Jet2 flight (4 of us) so Jet2 gave us access to the exec airport lounge, 4 x £100 compensation, return flight to Manchester (we were booked to Leeds Bradford) and taxi from Manchester > Leeds. All good so far however downsides were a 5 hour delay, taxi not at Manchester as promised (30 minute wait) and Jet2 promised to sort out parking delay for our car at Leeds whereas operators said they had not heard from Jet2 and made us pay for an extra day.

Yes, its all well and good for them to say at Palma that everything will be sorted out just to get you out of their own system, but when it actually comes to the other end and nothing has gone through, then its the customer that suffers every time. It MAY be possible to get reimbursed, but as the "compensation" was already given, its unlikely. I dont think the worry and the extra travelling time/expense is really worth it at the end of a holiday, when all you want to do is get home, unpack and have a nice cup of tea!!
The Luton flight that we were offered was about to take off within the next half hour. As we were one of the first to book in for the Gatwick flight which was due to take off over an hour and half later, it was obvious that there was still going to be an overbooking problem.
I wonder what happened to the people who were last to book in and were therefor not given an option? How long did they have to wait for another Gatwick flight? I doubt that THEY were given compensation for that!
