Default Another airline "at it"!

I see from 1st March, Flyglobespan are starting to charge for hold baggage.

On booking you can choose to pay £3.89 per bag per flight, but if you pay at check in it will be £7.89.

Then on excess baggage, you can choose to pay on booking, £15 for each 10 kg up to a limit of 50kg. On booking you get a confirmation, email, if online, or obviously something in print, if by phone or travel agent, which must be presented on check in or you'll have to pay on check in at £5 per kilo!!

Can see a lot of unhappy bunnies at check in!!

Prices for golf gear etc etc shown on their website.

Moral appears to be now when booking to be very aware of the airline's rules, to avoid yourself grief!!

Now if you're checking in, in front of me, do it right peeps!

The excess baggage rules for Globespan were in place last year Portofan. We had our bottle of water weighed on the way home from our first trip and so paid the excess the next time to find - they weren't bothered. Bit of a hit or a miss if you ask me.

Suppose they are blaming the Government who are making it harder for all airlines to operate by imposing new taxes in the name of climate change.

Hi Lala!

We always manage to travel within the baggage limits and haven't incurred an excess yet.

The per flight charges are new from 1st March as we travelled twice to Palma last year and twice to Barca and never had any such charges.

Dont they always find ways to take your money?

Porto

For anyone flying with XL -
We had booked flights in October 07 for our July 08 hols with XL airways and at the time the standard baggage allowance applied (20kg)..No extra charges per checked in hold baggage.
Daughter (the poor student!) has decided she may now wish to join us in July so was looking to get her on the same flight - XL have now changed their baggage allowance to 15kg per person...or you can pay an extra £7.50 per person each way to increase that to 20kg...I would have had no idea until the tickets arrived that the allowance had changed..what a shock that would have been as we struggle as it is I rang XL and was told that it had recently changed and that anyone can ring beforehand and pay the charge if they wish to increase their allowance

Booked flights with Easyjet for April and they now charge £3.89 per checked in bag (paid at time of booking )- Baggage allowance 20kg

Hi Porto!

Yep they are always coming up with new ways to make us part with our cash - that's why we always leave buying the wine until we are through security at the airport now - they don't weigh that!

If when you booked your XL flight it was 20kg they should stand by this, fight your corner that was the contract.
