Default Palma Airport

Hi
Does anyone else just hate Palma Airport?
It's lovely to arrive but allways traumatic coming home anyway - without the endless & pointless queues?
I notice now the desks were only open 2 hrs before flight time, so you need to arrive early and queue just to be ahead of the coach parties coming in from all the resorts. No time to shop because you've waited in the queue so long and still have the massive 'zig-zag' style queue at passport control and then the hike to the departure gate only to find there is an hours' delay but no one bothered to update the info screens.
The shopowners must be quite annoyed that all we can do is queue - no time to shop!
I remember reading that Palma airport is built from the plans produced and rejected for an airport in the USA!

I love Palma airport - perhaps because I can remember the one of old. Whichever airport you leave from, there will always be queues. We always fly with Easyjet and the longest we have had to queue has been 15 minutes. Compare that with Luton or Gatwick! One other great feature of Palma is the speed with which the luggage comes through - again compare that to BAA.

Processing at the security check was very fast last week despite the long lines, and they are more thorough than most places.

Having not been thru Palma a/p for 13 years I was shocked at how much it's grown. And what a long, long walk from the plane to baggage reclaim. Quite impressive though at how fast the bags came. Nice shops too. Must admit it was nice to travel on BA scheduled rather than charter. There were a lot of weather delays on our return journey and being a scheduled flight we did get preferential treatment amongst the backlog of flights. I took a total of 6 flights in 2 weeks to get to PP and the worst delay was the baggage handlers at Gatwick, who took 1 hour to offload our cases - typical! :smokin
