Default Changes at Palma Airport

Hi guys,

am now back home again although it's only slightly cooler.

On leaving via Palma Airport we noticed a couple of new changes:

1) Passport Control is now BEFORE you enter the upstairs shopping area. There are are 2 entrances Left & Right (on the upper level). This makes sense as it is before you can enter the Duty Free shops & hopefully eliminates some of the hold-ups on the way to the Gates. However some of the Shops are outside this area so if you want to use them, you have to visit them before going through passports. On the right is the Tabac (according to my husband cheaper than the 'Duty Free'), Pharmacy & a few clothes shops. On the Left is the nice book shop with papers, magazines & those all important sweeties to suck on the plane - we had to go without!

2) This may or may not appeal but there is now a MacD, KFC & Pizza Hut on the way to gate 'C' as well as another bar 'El Molino'. I have to admit that the Big M's Chicken Ceasar Salad for less than 5 euros wasn't bad at all (They also do fruit & yoghurt & Iced Tea) - much nicer than those overpriced baguettes in the cafeteria....

I think you will find that the position of the Passport Control varies almost on a daily basis. Sometimes it is before the shops, sometimes after and sometimes not at all!

Also be warned ....... big queues at the new passport control / security check when we came through this morning

I know there was often a queue when it was further down but this one was much worse .......... about 20mins

Could have just struck unlucky but thought it worth warning people
