After me long being an advocate of Globespan (we have used them for nearly 10 years for our mallorca
flights) I was finally let down last week.
Our 8 am flight from Edinburgh on 15th September was delayed by 14 hours :eek
Now when you are only going for a week that means your 7 night holiday becomes a 6 night hol and further complications occur when you have not booked a package and have to make other arrangements to pick up keys or a car...
Now I know that these things can happen and it can be outwith the control of the airline but I was most disappointed with the lack of communication on the day. We only really heard rumours from other passengers about what the problem might be. When we checked in at 6 am we were told delayed until 1.15pm and then 1.15 became 2 then 3 then 9.15 :eek then.... oh well lets just say we finally got to our
apartment at 4.30am on Sunday. We had been out of bed for a full 24 hours
Globespan gave us £12 each food vouchers - a hilarious amount since you have not been able to get a meal for that much in the airport since 1972!! The food in Wetherspoons there is absolutely dreadful!! Not exactly the meal I'd planned for our first night!
Worst of all - we were not allowed to leave the airport and go home and to get the bleedin' voucher we had to go back out of the departure lounge and go through security and all that palaver once again.
I know others on this forum have had problems in the past but up til now we could not fault Globespan. Unbelievably a member of their ground team just about bit my head off when I asked her a polite question - I know they were probably stressed but it was hardly professional...
Anyone else on this flight and know any more about what the probs were? There were folks with young kids and disabled people - must have been a nightmare for them.
